WHAT: ”Irrigation and Water Delivery Improvements Using Wireless Communication Technology”
The nation’s farms and irrigation districts are losing access to water because the world’s population is booming and cities are expanding. At the same time, the growing need for food requires that we increase our crop yields to meet the ever-increasing demands of the world’s population. Today, there are numerous technologies at our fingertips that can assist in meeting future performance expectations. One simple word that describes these technologies is “automation.” The same automation that has created information superhighways and reduced cost and higher productivity in producing fuels also can be used within the irrigation industry. Examples are wireless communication, automated controls and automated sensors. This presentation will explain how modifications using wireless technologies can save enormous amounts of water, improve efficiencies within systems and decrease the total amount of water being used in irrigation systems.
