Latest update to Adaptive ALMTM suite drives productivity of QA, developers and business analysts, reduces development rework while keeping pace with rapid Agile releases

SAN FRANCISCO and BANGALORE, March 1, 2010 - ThoughtWorks Studios, (www.thoughtworks-studios.com) a global leader in Agile ALM and training, today announced the latest version of its Agile test automation solutions, Twist® 2.0. Designed to manage the rapid pace of software testing within Agile environments, Twist 2.0 helps testers, developers and business analysts work together to ensure testing is highly efficient and collaborative, resulting in faster release cycles of quality applications.

"It's very common for people involved in software testing to spend more time trying to keep their automated tests in synch with development rather than actually testing applications," said Cyndi Mitchell, managing director, for ThoughtWorks Studios. "Twist provides a framework for test automation and test-driven development that allows all stakeholders to build test suites and scenarios using plain English, thereby mitigating the complexity of traditional test automation."

Twist offers simplicity and an intuitive user experience to create highly robust and reusable test automation frameworks for both manual and functional automated tests. An integral part of ThoughtWorks Studios' Adaptive ALM solution, Twist provides continuous visibility into testing activities across distributed projects and teams.

Unlike traditional test tools, Twist uses Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Domain Specific Language (DSL) to allow test automation specialists, developers and business analysts to work collaboratively as a means of ensuring testing efforts match the exact, intended functionality of new applications. This unique approach of using the English language to build test scripts expands the testing process to the "business side" of software development, reducing development re-work and faulty software that does not meet strategic business goals. Twist allows teams to adjust and/or react to change effectively through an open and flexible framework conducive to testing within short sprints or iterations. Ultimately, it allows the testing effort to keep pace with the increasingly rapid rate of application delivery.

New features in Twist 2.0 include:

Hybrid Test Execution - allows for manual and automated test steps within the same scenario. This improves collaboration and execution efficiency of both automated and manual testing efforts.

Improved Workflow Reuse - provides high level test scenarios and steps (manual and automated) that can be reused and shared within and across multiple projects.

Groovy Scripting - supports the Groovy dynamic Agile language for Java. It makes modern programming features available to Twist users with almost zero learning curve.

Additional Web Driver support for Sahi - testers have the option of using Sahi or Selenium for Web testing. The benefit of using Sahi is that it abstracts out most difficulties that testers face while automating Web applications.

SWTBOT support - allows Twist users to test Java SWT-based applications

- Data Driven Scenarios - build data-driven tests on the fly for increased test coverage

ThoughtWorks Studios is the products division of the industry leading Agile consultancy ThoughtWorks®. Its Adaptive ALMTM solution includes Mingle® (project management), Twist® (test automation) and Cruise® (release management), to manage all aspects of the software development and delivery lifecycle - from requirements definition and portfolio management to test automation, quality assurance and release management.

Twist supports Agile ALM by combining requirements and test specification management and creation, and by providing manual and test automation to ensure quality throughout the application lifecycle. It plays a significant role in ThoughtWorks Studios' Adaptive ALM by providing a robust, reusable, multi-platform testing capability that ensures testing keeps pace with application development. Twist increases visibility and awareness of Agile testing activities by providing test results for processes managed by Mingle and Cruise. Together with Mingle, it connects directly to Mingle repositories and links story cards directly to Twist test scenarios. This provides full traceability of test and requirements coverage. When integrated with Cruise, Twist can export all of the necessary libraries to run test scenarios and suites. This allows tests to be run as part of a build (with reports of test results).

Enterprise customers are benefiting by integrating project/program management, test and release management into a unified solution for large-scale Agile development

LONDON AND SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 2, 2010 - ThoughtWorks Studios, (www.thoughtworks-studios.com) a global leader in Agile ALM tools and training, today announced the continued adoption of its Adaptive ALMTM solution that helps organizations streamline and automate the entire Agile software development lifecycle. During the last quarter of 2009, the company closed several enterprise licenses for Adaptive ALM, an integrated solution comprised of Mingle® (project management), Twist® (test automation) and Cruise® (release management) products. These companies included, The Trainline (www.thetrainline.com) and Trader Media Group (www.autotrader.co.uk).

"Organizations looking to extend Agile practices deeper into the software development process realize that mastering project management is only one step in building out a truly Agile enterprise," explained Cyndi Mitchell, managing director for ThoughtWorks Studios. "With Adaptive ALM, a growing number of customers are moving to integrate core engineering practices to create a richer and more complete Agile program that drives productivity and improves software quality."

ThoughtWorks Studios is the products division of the industry leading Agile consultancy ThoughtWorks®. It developed Adaptive ALM to address the shortcomings of traditional ALM solutions that lack the functionality to effectively manage the hybrid nature of Agile practices. In addition, incumbent stand-alone Agile project management tools require extensive third-party tool integrations to make up an Agile ALM platform. ThoughtWorks Studios' Adaptive ALM product suite delivers a fully automated solution that supports all aspects of a software development and delivery lifecycle - from requirements definition and portfolio management to test automation, quality assurance and release management.

Based on deep experience developing some of the most successful and sophisticated Agile projects in the world, all ThoughtWorks Studios' software adapts to unique customer dynamics and allows organizations to determine preferred workflows and processes. This flexible, "work as you like" approach to building out a complete ALM program promotes the use of both new and existing processes and best practices across the enterprise.

The most popular Scrum management tool continues to be guided
by user input from the Danube Community Portal

BELLEVUE, Wash., Feb. 1, 2010-Danube Technologies, Inc., (www.danube.com) the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced the latest release of its ScrumWorks® Pro product. ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 includes improvements to the tool's Sprint Burndown Chart, Team Member Load Report and filtering with Themes. The release, which is the third upgrade since the enterprise-ready ScrumWorks Pro 4 was launched in Aug, 2009, represents Danube's commitment to responding quickly to customer feedback through the Danube Community Portal (http://community.danube.com).

"The level of participation among our users on the Danube Community Portal has been staggering," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and CEO of Danube. "Hearing from our user-base in such a direct way has allowed us to focus on improvements that generate immediate value for our users as well as accelerate the rate at which we deliver upgrades. In my mind, this is an illustration of what can happen when the makers of a tool and its community of users can unite around a common goal-improving project and program management with Scrum."

New features in ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 include:

Upgraded Sprint Burndown Chart. ScrumWorks Pro's Sprint Burndown Chart receives a major upgrade with the addition of a second line: tasks done/not done. This allows teams that do not use task-level estimation to nevertheless "burn down" tasks in Sprints.

Tasks No Longer Require Estimates. To help support task burndown in the Sprint Burndown Chart, tasks no longer require estimates.

Enhanced Team Member Load Report. This sprint-level report now displays the total task hours yet to be allocated to team members. This helps teams better visualize the total unallocated capacity in the sprint at any time.

Sub-Total for Selected Product Backlog Items and Tasks. Now users can select a sub-set of the product backlog or sprint from the Product window and receive an instant sub-total of the number of PBIs/Tasks and their corresponding effort estimates in the new status bar result in no more manual math.

Editor Enhancements. The work item editor now includes the item's key for easier identification.

Expanded Theme Filtering. When filtering using Themes, users now have the option to "exclude" selected Themes from filtered or highlighted results.

Fixes. Several issues have been resolved, including a security issue related to Active Directory installations configured to accept empty passwords, Java Web Start caching, and more.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 is available now and can be purchased directly from Danube. Pricing is offered through an on-site, per-seat subscription license that starts at $289-per-user, per-year, or less than $25 per-user, per-month, as well as an on-site, per-seat fully paid license for $500. For more information on ScrumWorks Pro, visit www.danube.com/scrumworks/pro.

CHICAGO, January 21, 2010 - ThoughtWorks, the global leader in Agile methods of software development, is proud to announce its newest office location in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The office, which opened in December 2009, marks the firm's entrance into South America and is located in the Tecnopuc Technology Innovation Park on the campus of Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul.

ThoughtWorks' Brazil office is an important part of the firm's strategic plan, which includes continued support for software excellence by expanding its global footprint into economic regions beyond its existing operations in North America, Europe, India, China and Australia.
Brazil is an important part of the firm's strategy due to the country's wealth of highly skilled information technology workers, its commitment to the advancement of emerging technologies such as dynamic languages, and its support for the advancement of Open Source software.

For ThoughtWorks' clients, the new office location offers numerous benefits such as a closer time-zone proximity to the U.S. and the opportunity to engage in one of the top ten global economies.

Based on community feedback, leading conference on Agile development to offer a tighter agenda to bring greater focus to event

PORTLAND Jan. 19, 2010 - The Agile Alliance, (www.agilealliance.org) a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the advancement of Agile software development principles and practices, today announced the "call for speakers" for Agile 2010 is now open. Set for Aug. 9 - 13 in Nashville, (http://agile2010.agilealliance.org). Agile 2010 is the leading international conference on Agile methods in software development, bringing together many disciplines in the fields of information systems and software development to foster the exchange of fresh ideas and best practices.

"This year's conference will examine the latest theory, practical applications and implications of Agile methods," said Jim Newkirk, Agile 2010 conference chair. "The Agile approach focuses on delivering business value early in the project lifetime and being able to incorporate emergent requirements. The Agile conference is not about a single methodology or approach, but rather provides a forum for the exchange of information regarding all Agile development technologies."

The Agile 2010 submission process will be somewhat different from past years. In previous years submissions were submitted to individual stages for consideration. This year, interested presenters will submit abstracts that address one of the broad conference themes - Business, Technical, and Leadership & Organization. Once submitted, the program committee will identify and forward abstracts to the most appropriate stage for consideration.

In addition, to help ensure the conference offers sessions that vary in experience level and address topics of interest shared by past attendees, the program committee will invite specific sessions. These 180 minute sessions will be presented on the first day of the conference and will be selected based on the following criteria (in priority order):
1. The session content fills a specific hole in the program, either from a pure content perspective or from an experience level.
2. The session provides a fresh perspective on a particular topic.
3. The presenter scored in the top 20% with regard to feedback at last year's conference.

"The changes we have made to the speaking submission process aims to build on the success of past conferences and ensure that all members of the Agile community - regardless of experience level - have focused sessions to attend," said Newkirk. "I invite anyone interested in speaking at this year's conference to visit our main Web site and also review a more detailed outline of this year's process on the Agile 2010 blog at (http://agile2010.wordpress.com/)."
The submission system in open now and will remain open until Feb. 19, 2010. For more information or to submit a presentation please visit: http://agile2010.agilealliance.org/index.html.

About the Agile Alliance
The Agile Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the concepts of Agile software development, as outlined in the (http://www.agilemanifesto.org/). With nearly 6,000 members located around the globe, the Agile Alliance is driven by the principles of Agile methodologies and the value delivered to developers, organizations and end users. The Agile Alliance organizes the annual Agile Conference, the industry's leading event that attracts practitioners, academia, business and vendor-partner community members from around the globe. The Agile 2010 conference http://agile2010.agilealliance.org/ is set for August 9-13 in Nashville.

New integration to boost developer productivity through direct access to VersionOne from the Eclipse IDE

VANCOUVER and ATLANTA, Dec. 17, 2009 - Tasktop Technologies (http://tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and provider of task management integration for Agile ALM, and VersionOne (http://www.versionone.com), recognized by agile practitioners as the leader in agile project management tools, today announced a partnership to create the VersionOne Mylyn Connector. Set for release with Tasktop Pro in March, 2010, the connector will help streamline software development by providing direct access to VersionOne products from within the Eclipse IDE.

The VersionOne Mylyn Connector builds on Mylyn's innovative task-focused productivity technology to provide development teams with the most relevant source code for a given task. It helps reduce information overload for large-scale development projects and facilitate more efficient and collaborative multitasking. The Tasktop Pro integration is a standalone application that will provide rich desktop access to stories, defects and tasks in VersionOne for product owners. The integration will be included in Tasktop Pro, and provide time-tracking facilities as well as the ability to link VersionOne stories and defects to dependent artifacts in other systems with a Mylyn connector. It will be Tasktop Certified, and appear in the Mylyn Connector Discovery listing that is included in eight of nine Eclipse distribution packages.

"As agile development reaches deeper into the enterprise, the task management layer is critical to providing developers with IDE workflow integration, and project managers with a more accurate view of progress and status," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "The VersionOne integration will leverage the broad network of Mylyn-based ALM tools, providing developers with a fully integrated suite that takes advantage of VersionOne's leadership in agile project management."

V1: Agile Enterprise is one of the leading agile project management tools on the market. It provides an easy-to-use, centralized agile planning and management platform that is used globally by thousands of multi-team, multi-project development organizations. With a simple, standardized agile process flow and enhanced team collaboration features, V1: Agile Enterprise is a highly scalable, flexible and informative management tool. The Tasktop Pro and Mylyn Connector provides a new productivity layer that links VersionOne's project management capabilities with real-time development activity, improving project status visibility for team leads and product owners.

"VersionOne is committed to helping software organizations drive efficiencies and improvements in productivity," said Robert C. Holler, VersionOne president and CEO. "With the connector, the productivity benefits of Mylyn's task-focused interface technology will be available to VersionOne teams. The integration also enables users to easily move or link artifacts between applications connected to Tasktop, such as Microsoft Outlook, Bugzilla and ClearQuest. For example, users will be able to create a user story within VersionOne from an email or link a VersionOne story with a dependent defect in Bugzilla."

The VersionOne Mylyn Connector will be bundled with Tasktop Pro for $99, and a free trial will be available from (http://tasktop.com) in March 2010. Eclipse Galileo (3.5) users also will be able to install it directly from Mylyn's Connector Discovery in Eclipse. For more information and to sign up to be notified of the release, visit http://tasktop.com/connectors/versionone

Mingle 3.0 includes Tasktop integration, extends collaboration via
social communication and enables program management

LONDON and SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 9, 2009 - ThoughtWorks Studios (www.thoughtworks-studios.com), a global leader in Agile ALM tools and training, today announced it is shipping Mingle® 3.0, its industry leading Agile project management tool. Mingle 3.0 provides new levels of team collaboration, and extended reporting and management visibility across projects for improved program management. In addition, Mingle 3.0 is now fully integrated with Tasktop Pro (www.tasktop.com), the enterprise version of Mylyn, the most widely adopted ALM integration platform for the Eclipse IDE.

"At its core, successful software development is all about collaboration and the ability for stakeholders across the enterprise to share information and track progress in a timely and efficient manner," said Cyndi Mitchell, managing director for ThoughtWorks Studios. "In Mingle 3.0, our new Murmurs functionality offers new levels of enterprise communication that brings previously unstructured conversations into projects. Additionally, the integration of task-level activities directly into Mingle through Tasktop improves developer productivity and the accuracy of status reporting."

Mingle is the project management component of ThoughtWorks Studios' Adaptive ALMTM solution that supports all aspects of the software development and delivery lifecycle - from requirements definition and portfolio management to test automation, quality assurance and release management. In addition to Mingle, Adaptive ALM includes Twist® (test automation) and Cruise® (release management).

Major new features in Mingle 3.0 include:

Online Team Collaboration - to help teams work more efficiently and collaboratively, ThoughtWorks Studios has designed an entirely new communications platform called "MurmursTM." Murmurs captures conversations that would otherwise have been lost through unstructured communications - such as IM chats, emails, etc. - and instantly associates team dialogs with Mingle project artifacts. All software development team members can share ideas, track progress in real-time, and improve intra-team and cross-team visibility and traceability. The first external integration of Murmurs uses JabberTM chat.

Program Management Capabilities - new program-level management features provide cross-project visibility, traceability and extended reporting capabilities. Features include a pre-built cross-project reporting macro that extends the Macro Developer Tool Kit for flexible reporting from multiple projects in real time. Managers now can easily copy cards and create links between projects to manage work among them.

Enhanced Usability and Support - additional reporting capabilities include a Macro Creator for developers. This helps simplify and automate syntax for powerful reporting within Mingle projects when creating reports and previewing charts. Other enhancements add support for software configuration management (SCM) through Subversion® 1.6.5, API updates that provide better access to information within Mingle for integration with external applications or systems, and updates to available MQL database queries. Personalization upgrades allow end-users to manage history notification subscriptions and add personal icons to a user profile page.

In addition, Mingle 3.0 provides rich client access and Eclipse development environment integration for project team members by way of Tasktop Pro. The ThoughtWorks Studios Mingle Mylyn Connector, now included in Tasktop Pro, allows Mingle users to access Mingle artifacts directly from their development environment. The connector provides cross-repository accessibility and dependency management so team members can easily relate Mingle cards to artifacts within numerous other tracking systems supported by Tasktop Pro. In addition, Tasktop's automated time-tracking solution integrates with Mingle, providing a much needed integration layer between developer tools and project management tools in the Agile ALM stack. This allows team members to accurately track actual hours on the desktop, adjust as needed, and submit them to Mingle, providing improved visibility for the entire team. Tasktop Pro also enables team members to enrich their day-to-day conversations via direct integration with the new Murmurs collaboration feature in Mingle.

"Being able to bring the new Murmurs social collaboration capability available in Mingle 3.0 directly into the Eclipse IDE will further streamline developer communication and knowledge transfer around a project or specific development task," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "We look forward to working with ThoughtWorks Studios to help teams reach a new level of collaborative development and project visibility by connecting Mingle with development activity on the desktop."

Pricing and Availability
Mingle 3.0 is available immediately directly from ThoughtWorks Studios and pricing starts at $566 per user, per year. For more information or to download a free trial please visit http://www.thoughtworks-studios.com/mingle-agile-project-management/mingle-releasing-with-murmurs. The ThoughtWorks Studios Mingle Mylyn Connector is available now and included in Tasktop Pro for $99. A free Tasktop Pro trial is available from http://tasktop.com/download. Eclipse Galileo (3.5) users also will be able to install it directly from Mylyn's Connector Discovery in Eclipse.

Leader in Scrum project and program management tools adds print capability,
theme filtering, and reporting improvements

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 2, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc., the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced new reporting, theme filtering, printing, and resource allocation reporting to its ScrumWorks® Pro product. The result of user input from Danube's Community Portal at (http://community.danube.com/), the new features build on the enterprise capabilities launched in ScrumWorks 4 and demonstrate Danube's commitment to listening and responding quickly to customer feedback to advance Scrum practices across large-scale deployments.

"These latest enhancement to ScrumWorks Pro are the result of the ScrumWorks community's drive to improve Scrum in the enterprise," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and CEO of Danube. "There's no better source for suggested new features than the more than 125,000 ScrumWorks users around the globe. We value their input and are pleased to respond quickly with feature enhancements that will improve their productivity."
New features of ScrumWorks Pro 4.2 include:

Team Member Allocation Report. This report gives management a central view of who is working on what. Organized by weekly or monthly workloads, the report identifies individuals that are over-allocated as well as those that maybe under-utilized and available to help with under-staffed projects.

Printing Enhancements: The "print-to-cards" feature now displays full, unabridged titles and allows for dynamic font re-sizing. "Print-to-cards" also automatically prioritizes the title and description fields over less important fields, cropping those fields if necessary.

Combined Theme Filtering: "Themes" are the primary mechanism in ScrumWorks Pro for categorizing Backlog Items by associating a specific keyword to a specific item or group of items. Now, ScrumWorks Pro provides users with additional flexibility in filtering requirements by Themes as well as Theme-based reports.

Improved Product Backlog Item Reporting: A complete re-design of the Product Backlog Item module for Web reports provides an improved user experience and stronger reporting capability with the addition of a "Status" filter to already existing "Release" and "Themes" filter options.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.2 is available now and can be purchased directly from Danube.

Rawsthorne to provide practical approaches to successful release planning and backlog management

Who: Dan Rawsthorne
Certified Scrum Trainer and Senior Consultant
Danube Technologies, Inc. (www.danube.com)

Rawsthorne has been developing software for more than 25 years and is an accomplished manager, mentor, coach, trainer, consultant, and architect. The projects he has worked on range from e-commerce, to databases, military avionics and Air Traffic Control. He is a Certified Scrum Trainer for Danube Technologies, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development. Rawsthorne holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Illinois.

What: Release Planning: A Strategy for Success
One of the primary responsibilities of the Product Owner and project teams is release planning. Stakeholders want, need, and deserve to know what they will be getting-and when. How do you do this in an agile environment? Although many find it tempting to create a release plan as a series of sprint plans, this is a mistake. It violates the lean principle of "minimal inventory" and will be wrong-the same is true with traditional project planning. In this half-day tutorial, Dan Rawsthorne presents "rules of thumb" for developing a release strategy and spending game plan. Participants will practice using these rules during a guided exercise, walk through an example release, and learn how to monitor and measure the release plan.

Storyotypes: The Patterns within the Stories
In this informative presentation, Rawsthorne will explore why and how similar stories appear over and over again as organizations develop systems. According to Rawsthorne, stories-small chunks of work that make up a backlog and provide demonstrable value to the project-can be categorized by purpose including: production, analysis, cleanup, infrastructure/environment, business support, or other.

Development teams can collaborate via enterprise IM chat that is tied to specific Mingle® artifacts for on-demand review, new reporting extends across multiple projects

SAN FRANCISCO, Enterprise 2.0 Conference, Nov. 4, 2009 - ThoughtWorks Studios, a global leader in Agile ALM tools and training, today unveiled a major new release of its Mingle® project management tool. Features of Mingle 3.0 focus on new levels of collaborative communication and extending reporting and manager visibility across multiple projects for improved program management. In line with its new online collaboration capabilities, Mingle also is being integrated with Google Wave (see today's release: (ThoughtWorks Studios to Demo Mingle Integration with Google Wave for Agile ALM) to further improve the communication and efficiency of development teams.

"Having the ability to centralize a range of unstructured communications and associate them collectively with a specific project artifact will reduce wasted time sifting through past correspondence to stay on task," said Cyndi Mitchell, managing director for ThoughtWorks Studios. "This new version of Mingle also provides managers with new levels of visibility on progress and how resources are being used across multiple projects."

Mingle is the project management component of ThoughtWorks Studios' recently launched Adaptive ALM™, a complete development solution that includes Twist® (test automation) and Cruise® (release management). The result is a fully automated solution that supports all aspects of the software development and delivery lifecycle, from requirements definition and portfolio management to test automation, quality assurance and release management.

Major new features in Mingle 3.0 include:

- Online Team Collaboration - to help teams work more efficiently and collaboratively, ThoughtWorks Studios has designed an entirely new communications platform called "Murmurs." Murmurs™ captures conversations that would otherwise have been lost through unstructured communications - such as IM chats, emails, etc. - and instantly associates team conversations with Mingle project artifacts. All software development team members can share ideas, better track progress in real-time, and improve intra-team and cross-team visibility and traceability. The first external integration of Murmurs uses Jabber chat.

- Program Management Capabilities - new program-level management features provide cross-project visibility, traceability and extended reporting capabilities. It includes a pre-built cross-project reporting macro and extends the Macro Developer Tool Kit to enable flexible reporting from multiple projects in real time. Managers now can easily copy cards and create links between projects to manage work between projects.

- Enterprise Scalability - the application now supports Mingle clustering, which facilitates horizontal scaling for larger organizations.

- Simplified Reporting - the new Macro Editor helps users new to Mingle Macros by automating syntax within projects thus simplifying the creation and preview of charts.

- Enhanced Usability and Support - additional reporting capabilities include a Macro Creator for developers.

Mingle 3.0 includes enhanced support for project team members by way of Tasktop Pro. The Mingle Connector for Tasktop Pro will bring the power of Mingle to the desktop, allowing Mingle users to access task-focused work from the development environment. The connector also will provide cross-repository accessibility and dependency management so that team members can easily relate Mingle cards to artifacts within other tracking systems supported by Tasktop Pro. In addition, Tasktop's automated time-tracking solution will integrate with Mingle, providing a much needed integration layer between developer tools and the Agile ALM stack. This allows team members to accurately track actual hours on the desktop, submit them in aggregate to related Mingle cards and provide improved visibility for the entire team. Tasktop Pro also allows team members to enrich their day-to-day conversations via direct integration with the new Murmurs collaboration feature in Mingle.

"The new features in Mingle 3.0 are designed to turn unstructured communications into a powerful asset for developers, while expanding the reach and visibility managers need when coordinating complex, multiple projects," said Chad Wathington, vice president of product management for ThoughtWorks Studios. "Together with the integration with Google Wave, Mingle will continue to help developers work the way they like while helping the overall development team work in unison through better collaboration, program visibility and more accurate, flexible reporting."

About ThoughtWorks Studios
ThoughtWorks Studios is a global leader in Agile ALM tools and training. Its products and services are used by organizations as a foundation for sustainable Agile adoption, where project management, automation and engineering best practices are required. The company's Adaptive ALM solution provides a platform for managing all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from requirements definition and project management to test automation, quality assurance and release management. The three products that make up Adaptive ALM, Mingle (project management) Twist (test automation) and Cruise (release management), are available as an integrated solution or as stand-alone products.

New features bolster program management with Scrum, helping users prioritize and better allocate resource 'budgets' when working in Epics

BELLEVUE, Wash., October 12, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc., the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced ScrumWorks® Pro 4.1, a new version of the only enterprise-grade tool designed exclusively to manage Scrum. New features of ScrumWorks Pro provide the ability to easily prioritize requirements at the Epic level, set and establish budgets for Epics, and improve Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for broader integration capabilities.

"Our experience helping enterprise customers manage large, complex development efforts has shown us an urgent need for tools that can help organizations of this size coordinate multiple development groups," said Victor Szalvay, Danube CTO and product owner of ScrumWorks Pro. "The latest release of ScrumWorks Pro provides capabilities that allow program managers not only to prioritize Epics, but also assign and track associated budgets. As always, these feature additions were driven by the request of our most successful enterprise customers."
New features of ScrumWorks Pro:

Prioritization of Epics: ScrumWorks Pro allows product owners to manage and prioritize Epics (large Scrum user stories with unknown requirements or effort estimates, which often span multiple products) with the same drag-and-drop ease of standard user stories. For the largest enterprises, ScrumWorks Pro 4.1 provides the capability to manage and prioritize multiple Epics..

Budgets for Epics: Because Epics have been historically difficult to estimate, ScrumWorks Pro now allows teams to establish resource guidelines, set milestones for each release, place parameters around resource usage and set automated alerts when pre-determined thresholds are close to being exceeded. These new "budgeting" features provide increased visibility into the effort put forth to
complete an Epic and soft limits on the amount of work budgeted for a particular milestone.

API Enhancements: Danube continues to strengthen its API for Epics, programs, themes and other user-requested enhancements.

Integration Updates: ScrumWorks 4.1 includes the latest integrations for JIRA 4.0 and Bugzilla 3.4.2.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.1 is currently available and can be purchased directly from Danube.

Online diagnostics and analysis provides a first step in assessing
Agile adoption status and identifies areas for improvement

SAN FRANCISCO AND LONDON, Oct. 5, 2009 - ThoughtWorks Studios, a global leader in Agile ALM tools and training, today announced the launch of (www.AgileAssessments.com), a new web-based tool for gauging the status of a software development team's Agile adoption and potential roadblocks to the successful delivery of business-aligned programs. The complimentary self-assessment tool consists of a 20-question diagnostic that covers both management and engineering practices, and provides a customized report with high-level analysis and potential areas for improvement, based on the self assessment.

"Organizations looking for initial feedback and analysis of their Agile initiatives, perhaps as a first step toward an in-depth assessment and improvement plan, will find the 10-minute investment well worth the time," said Adam Monago, vice president of client services for ThoughtWorks Studios. "The self-assessment questions and analysis are based on the hands-on practical experience that ThoughtWorks and ThoughtWorks Studios have gained during the past 16 years and addresses the full range of Agile development practices."

The Agile Assessment is comprised of a set of multiple-choice ratings that will help identify areas of strength and potential areas for improvement for both Management and Engineering Practices. Management practices include: requirements analysis, business responsiveness, collaboration and communication, project management and governance. Engineering practices include build management, configuration management and testing.

Based on users' input, (www.AgileAssessments.com) provides organizations with a report that includes a short summary of Agile process maturity and identifies areas for improvement. The report also provides a framework that organizations will find useful as they scale their Agile practices throughout their organization. In addition, Agile Assessments organizes much of the unstructured Agile content (blogs, books, analyst insights) into a useful structure that serves as a resource for any Agile adoption process.

ThoughtWorks Studios Onsite Agile Assessments
Organizations looking for more in-depth expert analysis can leverage ThoughtWorks Studios' rich experience helping teams get the most out of Agile with Onsite Agile Assessment Services. These sessions include:

Agile Maturity Assessment: to assess the current state and project target status of a software development project team or an entire development organization.

- Agile Workshops: in-depth analysis provided on all aspects of Agile ALM that are taught by highly experienced development experts.

CHICAGO (Agile 2009) - August 25, 2009 - ThoughtWorks Studios, a global leader in Agile application lifecycle management (ALM) tools and training, and Tasktop Technologies, creators of the EclipseTM Mylyn ALM integration framework, today announced the ThoughtWorks Adaptive ALM Connector. Set for release with Tasktop Pro in October, the connector will help streamline software development by providing direct access to ThoughtWorks Studios' products from within the Eclipse IDE.

The ThoughtWorks Adaptive ALM Connector integrates Mylyn's innovative task-focused productivity technology to provide development teams with the most relevant source code for a given task. It will help reduce information overload for large-scale development projects and facilitate more efficient and collaborative multitasking. With the connector, ThoughtWorks Studios' customers will improve productivity by eliminating the need to toggle between the browser, email and IDE to gather information necessary to complete application development tasks.

"The software development tools for ALM deployed in most organizations are heterogeneous due to the presence of legacy systems, new agile tools and a variety of methodologies in play," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies. "ThoughtWorks Studios' new Adaptive ALM is all about flexibility and supporting constant change. With first-rate Eclipse IDE integration, developers will benefit from the additional flexibility afforded by joining the rapidly growing ecosystem of interoperable connectors built on the Mylyn framework. This network of integrations will enable capabilities such as cross-linking Mingle cards with popular SCM tools. Through Tasktop Pro, developers will also benefit from automated time tracking and integrated access to email clients, web browsers, calendars and documents."

ThoughtWorks Studios, the products division of the industry leading Agile consultancy ThoughtWorks, now offers a complete set of tools and training for successful, sustainable Agile ALM programs. Its Adaptive ALMTM integrates its three flagship products, Mingle® (project management), Twist® (test automation) and Cruise® (release management) to support all aspects of the software development and delivery lifecycle, from requirements definition and portfolio management to test automation, quality assurance and release management. Its new ThoughtWorks Agile Workshops, announced yesterday here at Agile 2009, complements its solution offering with a new set of training programs to help development organizations adopt proven best practices for all aspects of Agile ALM.

"Our mission is to help organizations succeed with Agile-based development by addressing all aspects of Agile ALM, including integrated project management and engineering solutions, in-depth training and complementary tools like the Eclipse Mylyn ALM integration framework," said Adam Monago, vice president, client services for ThoughtWorks Studios. "Our customers expressed strong interest in integrations with Eclipse and Mylyn, and we're excited to add the ThoughtWorks Adaptive ALM Connector to our offerings later in the Fall."

The ThoughtWorks Adaptive ALM Connector will be bundled with Tasktop Pro for $149, and a free trial will be available from http://tasktop.com in October 2009. Eclipse Galileo (3.5) users also will be able to install it directly from Mylyn's Connector Discovery in Eclipse.
Agile 2009 attendees can view demo of recently launched enterprise Scrum tool

BELLEVUE, Wash., August 20, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc. (www.danube.com), the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum methodology, will unveil its new ScrumWorks Pro 4 project management tool at next week's Agile 2009 conference in Chicago. Launched on August 3, ScrumWorks Pro 4 has received widespread industry recognition and customer support due to the product's unique ability to allow large development organizations to scale Scrum deployments across the enterprise. Agile 2009 attendees can view a live demo of the product at Danube's booth #10.

"Agile 2009 is the premier event for the entire agile community and ScrumWorks Pro 4 represents an additional proof point on the continued maturity of Scrum practices in the enterprise," said Laszlo Szalvay, co-founder and CEO at Danube. "We are excited to officially introduce ScrumWorks 4 directly to the agile community in Chicago, and look forward to gaining continued feedback from hands-on practitioners that will help us continuously improve our products."

As Scrum continues to gain popularity among developers and managers alike, the framework which was originally conceived for use with small, co-located teams is being scaled to accommodate Scrum-of-Scrum installations of thousands of users. However, as many large organizations have attempted to translate the benefits of small team Scrum to enterprise-level installations, the available Scrum and agile tools lacked functionality powerful enough to accurately model such complex development.

ScrumWorks Pro 4 addresses the needs of larger development organizations by providing an intuitive way to track cross-product development at the program level. Utilizing "Themes," keyword tags for convenient sorting and filtering, users can assign an "Epics" theme to all the constituent products in a program. This allows them to roll up data into a high-level program view, providing a realistic assessment of progress and enabling informed release forecasting. For more information, please visit: http://www.danube.com/news/Danube_Releases_ScrumWorks_Pro_4

Pricing and Availability

ScrumWorks Pro 4 is available and can be purchased directly from Danube.

Rawsthorne to provide practical approaches to understanding agile metrics and team dynamics through two scheduled presentations

What: Panel Discussion: Product Owner or Product Manager or Both?
Rawsthorne will participate on this panel, discussing the complexities of the Product Owner role in Scrum.

Description: Experienced product managers working with agile product teams for the first time are stuck between old methods and new ones. Developers are requesting new artifacts, advocating new meetings, and defining new roles. Old processes and artifacts that seemed to be working are not valued by agile teams. While developers are learning how to deliver working code faster, without agile product management the team might be building the wrong things. Agile product managers and product owners face issues focusing on the business, technical, marketing, and sales roles required for effective agile teams.

Fixed Price, Fixed Scope Contracting with Scrum
Rawsthorne will present a brief 30-minute talk on fixed price and fixed scope contracting.

Description: One of the most pervasive myths about agility is that it cannot be applied to fixed price and fixed scope projects. However, nothing could be further from the truth; agility is essential to navigating the craziness of a project, while working towards a budget. In this talk, Rawsthorne will discuss organizational issues, how to estimate a bid, what the project (release) plan could look like, and provide examples of what to track and measure.

Agile Metrics
Rawsthorne will present a talk on agile metrics.

Description: The software development industry has a poor track record with metrics. Many metrics are tangential to development's goal of delivering business value, and are thus ill-regarded by agile developers. However, good metrics are important to management, in order to understand the status and progress of their teams, and to make projections into the future.

In this class, we discuss velocity, burndown graphs, running tested features, EVM metrics (CPI and SPI), and earned business value, including methods for calculation, why they're important, and how they enforce (or fight against) agile values.

When: Panel Discussion: Product Owner or Product Manager or Both?
Mon., August 24
4:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. Central; and at
4:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Central

Fixed Price, Fixed Scope Contracting with Scrum
Tuesday, August 25
1:30 - 2:00 p.m. Central

Agile Metrics
Wed., August 26
11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Central; and at
11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Central

Integration of industry leading tools delivers flexibility, automation and best-practices to better manage change while increasing the visibility of software development programs

SAN FRANCISCO AND BANGALORE, August 17, 2009 - ThoughtWorks Studios, (www.thoughtworks-studios.com) a global leader in Agile application lifecycle management (ALM) and software development tools, today announced Adaptive ALMTM, a new solution to help organizations streamline and automate the entire Agile software development lifecycle. Using Adaptive ALM, development organizations realize new levels of visibility and flexibility to better manage a wide range of software development methodologies and incorporate engineering best practices that drive productivity and quality.

"Many traditional 'ALM' tools focus on project management and require end-users to adhere to the dynamics of the tool, rather than the tool adapting to an organization's processes and practices," said Cyndi Mitchell, managing director for ThoughtWorks Studios. "Adaptive ALM allows teams to use their chosen development methods, while supporting engineering best practices that are vital to the successful development of sophisticated and mission-critical software projects."

ThoughtWorks Studios, the products division of the industry leading Agile consultancy ThoughtWorks®, developed Adaptive ALM through the integration of its three flagship products, Mingle® (project management), Twist® (test automation) and Cruise® (release management). The result is a fully automated solution that supports all aspects of a software development and delivery lifecycle, from requirements definition and portfolio management to test automation, quality assurance and release management.

ThoughtWorks Studios development tools are currently used by hundreds of customers in more than 20 countries. Using Mingle as the management hub for globally distributed and cross functional teams, Adaptive ALM delivers the following benefits for Agile-based development:

Stakeholder Visibility - provides both management and development teams with real-time visibility across the development lifecycle to more accurately manage and adapt to changing environments.

Requirements Management - supports greater efficiency and timely capture, management, prioritization and tracking of business objectives. Helps teams at every point in the development lifecycle build to exact customer specifications.

Traceability and Accountability - allows teams to track business value throughout the development lifecycle through detailed project history at the story level, shared virtual project wall, auditable deployments and traceable story transitions.

Quality Management - manages quality driven software development from requirements gathering to development and release. Enables business requirements to serve as test specifications and provide automation of test suites and routine test deployments.

Test Automation and Deployment Management - provides team control and visibility into test and release processes, with fully automated test suites that evolve with the application. This cross-functional automation improves collaboration and quality-driven deployments, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software with intended business value.

ALM with Agility
Based on more than 16 years of experience building and delivering some of the world's most successful and sophisticated Agile implementations, all ThoughtWorks Studios software is designed to adapt to customer dynamics and characteristics. This flexible, "work as you like" approach to building out a complete ALM program promotes the use of both new and existing processes and best practices across the enterprise. The solution provides developers and business team members with a holistic set of tools that work in harmony to deliver real-time collaboration and visibility. It helps remove operational silos and, through cross-functional automation, effectively meet strategic business objectives regardless of changing parameters.

"Our experience shows us that 'Agile-in-a-box' products, and focusing primarily on project management practices alone, does not guarantee Agile success," says Mitchell. "Adaptive ALM helps manage change and improves certainty of business outcome through collaboration and engineering best practices, like continuous integration, automated testing and refactoring, to help our customers minimize defects, eliminate waste, improve responsiveness and, ultimately, release better software faster."

ScrumWorks Pro Connector creates a fully integrated environment for Scrum development

Bellevue, Wash., June 24, 2009 - Danube Technologies, Inc., (http://www.danube.com), the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, and Tasktop Technologies (http://tasktop.com), creators of EclipseTM Mylyn and the task-focused interface, today announced the release of the ScrumWorks® Pro Mylyn Connector.

The connector, available as an extension to Tasktop Pro, allows software developers to access all tasks and stories housed in ScrumWorks Pro from within the Eclipse IDE. With no need to toggle between multiple applications, developers using ScrumWorks for project management will be able to remain focused on a single, all-inclusive IDE. For each ScrumWorks artifact accessed in the IDE, the novel task-focused interface shows only the most relevant source code, reducing information overload when working on large applications and resulting in dramatic and measurable productivity gains.

"Scrum helps teams increase productivity, so it makes sense that ScrumWorks Pro supports both the project management and development tooling needed to realize those benefits," said Victor Szalvay, CTO of Danube and Product Owner of ScrumWorks Pro. "The ScrumWorks Pro Connector for Tasktop Pro provides a rich integration with Eclipse, extending the benefits of ScrumWorks to the developers' IDE."

As Scrum's popularity increases and more organizations look to ScrumWorks Pro for project management, this integration marks dramatic strides in facilitating developer productivity. Historically, developers have lost valuable time flipping between their IDE, browser, and email client to locate source code, development tasks, bug reports and so on. The ScrumWorks Pro Connector for Tasktop Pro will consolidate all relevant task management and collaboration functionality within a single application. The ScrumWorks® Pro Connector takes full advantage of the productivity benefits afforded by task-focused interface technology.

"Developers spend more time looking for information than actually working," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies. "This is compounded by the fact that research shows developers can be interrupted every 11 minutes on average, resulting in a cycle of time wasted manually restoring the context related to the user story, task, or defect they are working on. The task-focused interface eliminates the time spent repeatedly searching for source code by monitoring a developer's activity," Kersten continued. "It also reduces information overload by showing only the code relevant to the task-at-hand. This new connector brings all of Mylyn's benefits to developers using ScrumWorks Pro for project management and collaboration."

Additional functionality provided by Tasktop Pro and the ScrumWorks Connector includes:

Flexible Integration with Desktop Applications. Tasktop Pro integrates popular applications, such as Microsoft Outlook and Gmail, with a developer's task-focused work flow and enabling ScrumWorks stories to be created from email threads.

Convenient Interlinking. By integrating ScrumWorks artifacts with the IDE, the Connector allows users to "bridge" related artifacts. For example, if a user story refers to a portion of code, the developer can create a hyperlink between them for quick recall.

Time tracking. Tasktop automatically tracks time spent for each ScrumWorks task, so developers no longer need to remember what they work on; they can simply generate a report. Developers retain full control to adjust the recorded tasks and times as needed to account for meetings.
