INOVONICS NAMED AS A FINALIST FOR SECURITY TECHNOLOGY EXECUTIVE MAGAZINE’S INNOVATION AWARDS

Aqua Water Supply ensures safety of drinking water using Inovonics’ wireless technology

ORLANDO, Fla. (ASIS 2011, Booth# 3801), Sept 20, 2011 – Inovonics (http://www.inovonics.com), the industry leader in high performance wireless sensor networks for commercial and life safety applications, today announced the company has been recognized as a finalist for Security Technology Executive (STE) magazine’s Innovation Awards. The seventh annual Security Innovation Awards honors the best and most unique security technology applications in the industry.

The Security Technology Executive Innovation Awards recognize organizations that have tackled a challenging security application and provided a successful solution. Each year, STE honors the most innovative technologies, design strategies and facility applications in the United States. The most unique security applications are then reviewed by an independent panel of security industry experts, with the finalists and winners featured in the September issue of the magazine.

Inovonics submitted a case study regarding its innovative work with a major water treatment plant in Texas. Aqua Water Supply was looking to improve the security system at its water treatment facility in Bastrop, Texas to avoid the expense and extra time associated with theft and vandalism. While researching the varying solutions for perimeter protection, it discovered Inovonics’ universal transmitters and inquired about using the products to secure the tank hatches. Additionally, Aqua Water Supply was introduced to the integrated solution of Inovonics and Optex that provides a complete wireless secure perimeter around the water treatment facility and that Inovonics’ partner, Turnkey Security, could incorporate into their existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

“It truly is an achievement, not only for Inovonics, but for our partner, Turnkey, and our valued customer, Aqua Water Supply to be recognized as a finalist for the Security Technology Executive Innovation Awards,” said Mark Jarman, president of Inovonics. “Inovonics’ universal transmitters provide unique flexibility because they can be used with any control panel, allowing installers and end users to select their security panel of preference. It delivers superior reliability, range and battery life that meets the security industry’s needs.”

For the Aqua Water Supply installation, Turnkey Security integrated Inovonics RF module transmitters with the Optex iSeries outdoor motion detectors for comprehensive and real-time perimeter protection. The combined Optex iSeries and Inovonics perimeter protection system provides around-the-clock perimeter monitoring to prevent theft, vandalism and crime in commercial and industrial settings. Additionally, Inovonics universal transmitters provide tank hatch monitoring to stop potential unauthorized access to water storage tanks.

AVERA HOSPITAL SELECTS INOVONICS’ RADIUS MOBILE DURESS, LOCATION AND MASS NOTIFICATION SECURITY SYSTEM

Hospital to use Radius to increase hospital staff, patient and public safety, among other applications

ORLANDO, Fla. (ASIS 2011, Booth# 3801), Sept. 19, 2011 – Inovonics (http://www.inovonics.com), the industry leader in high-performance wireless sensor networks for commercial and life safety applications, today announced that Avera Queen of Peace Hospital (Avera Queen of Peace Hospital) in Mitchell, S.D. has selected its Radius mobile duress, location and mass notification security solution to enhance its overall staff, patient and public safety.

Avera is a regional partnership of health professionals who share support services to maintain excellent care at 300 locations in eastern South Dakota and surrounding states. The Avera Queen of Peace Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 120-bed, full-service medical care facility. It offers a cancer clinic, full OBGYN care, dialysis, cardiology, emergency and outpatient services, among many other health care services. The Radius installation, which spans more than 200,000 square feet in several multi-story buildings, provides location of mobile duress alerts for key hospital staff.  The system also is used for environmental and temperature monitoring for food safety.

“Avera Queen of Peace Hospital is the perfect setting for Radius,” explained Mark Jarman, president of Inovonics. “A hospital campus setting such as this, which has multiple floors and multiple buildings requires instant location identification and notification when help is needed fast. Radius offers these capabilities allowing key hospital personnel to quickly find people who are in need of assistance and take immediate action to ensure the highest quality of staff, patient and public safety.”

Radius monitors any of Inovonics’ security sensors or end devices and interfaces to fire, access control and environmental monitoring systems, providing instant notification to mass communication alert devices. When a security or life threatening event occurs, the alert is automatically transmitted to Radius. Once the signal is received, the system processes and locates the position of the event and alerts the appropriate authorities. Radius can work alone or be integrated with other safety/security systems. The key features and benefits of Radius include:

  • § Location: Radius allows for mobile duress applications by accurately determining where an alarm is coming from within a building or campus setting. It allows users to locate employees, faculty or students immediately when they signal for help.
  • § Monitoring: Radius works with the complete line of Inovonics end devices, including pendant transmitters, universal transmitters, and motion detectors. It also supports integration with Inovonics’ extensive list of system partners who provide fire extinguisher monitoring, wireless perimeter beams, fence tilt sensors, man hole cover monitoring, water sensors, and a host of many other types of solutions. Radius also can alert users even when people are not present, such as after-hours. The sooner users are notified of an issue, the faster they can take action.
  • § Notification: Radius coordinates event monitoring and mass notification. It communicates information from in-building systems and routes them to alert devices, such as pagers, emails and mobile phones using text messaging or voice mail. Radius also packages multiple in-building systems into a single notification solution allowing for more efficient and quicker responses.

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital completed installing the Radius system in four days.  The campus wide system consists of a server, a repeater and locator network, and approximately 100 wireless sensors which include mobile panic buttons, temperature sensors, and other fixed mount devices.

“Our desire it to ensure the utmost quality of care and safety of our staff, patients and the public at large,” said Jim Buck, director of environmental services, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. “Because of our previous experience using Inovonics’ wireless network offerings, we are confident that selecting Radius as our premier safety and security solution was the perfect choice for our hospital.”
