The most popular Scrum management tool continues to be guided
by user input from the Danube Community Portal

BELLEVUE, Wash., Feb. 1, 2010-Danube Technologies, Inc., (www.danube.com) the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced the latest release of its ScrumWorks® Pro product. ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 includes improvements to the tool's Sprint Burndown Chart, Team Member Load Report and filtering with Themes. The release, which is the third upgrade since the enterprise-ready ScrumWorks Pro 4 was launched in Aug, 2009, represents Danube's commitment to responding quickly to customer feedback through the Danube Community Portal (http://community.danube.com).

"The level of participation among our users on the Danube Community Portal has been staggering," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and CEO of Danube. "Hearing from our user-base in such a direct way has allowed us to focus on improvements that generate immediate value for our users as well as accelerate the rate at which we deliver upgrades. In my mind, this is an illustration of what can happen when the makers of a tool and its community of users can unite around a common goal-improving project and program management with Scrum."

New features in ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 include:

Upgraded Sprint Burndown Chart. ScrumWorks Pro's Sprint Burndown Chart receives a major upgrade with the addition of a second line: tasks done/not done. This allows teams that do not use task-level estimation to nevertheless "burn down" tasks in Sprints.

Tasks No Longer Require Estimates. To help support task burndown in the Sprint Burndown Chart, tasks no longer require estimates.

Enhanced Team Member Load Report. This sprint-level report now displays the total task hours yet to be allocated to team members. This helps teams better visualize the total unallocated capacity in the sprint at any time.

Sub-Total for Selected Product Backlog Items and Tasks. Now users can select a sub-set of the product backlog or sprint from the Product window and receive an instant sub-total of the number of PBIs/Tasks and their corresponding effort estimates in the new status bar result in no more manual math.

Editor Enhancements. The work item editor now includes the item's key for easier identification.

Expanded Theme Filtering. When filtering using Themes, users now have the option to "exclude" selected Themes from filtered or highlighted results.

Fixes. Several issues have been resolved, including a security issue related to Active Directory installations configured to accept empty passwords, Java Web Start caching, and more.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 is available now and can be purchased directly from Danube. Pricing is offered through an on-site, per-seat subscription license that starts at $289-per-user, per-year, or less than $25 per-user, per-month, as well as an on-site, per-seat fully paid license for $500. For more information on ScrumWorks Pro, visit www.danube.com/scrumworks/pro.

Leader in Scrum project and program management tools adds print capability,
theme filtering, and reporting improvements

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 2, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc., the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced new reporting, theme filtering, printing, and resource allocation reporting to its ScrumWorks® Pro product. The result of user input from Danube's Community Portal at (http://community.danube.com/), the new features build on the enterprise capabilities launched in ScrumWorks 4 and demonstrate Danube's commitment to listening and responding quickly to customer feedback to advance Scrum practices across large-scale deployments.

"These latest enhancement to ScrumWorks Pro are the result of the ScrumWorks community's drive to improve Scrum in the enterprise," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and CEO of Danube. "There's no better source for suggested new features than the more than 125,000 ScrumWorks users around the globe. We value their input and are pleased to respond quickly with feature enhancements that will improve their productivity."
New features of ScrumWorks Pro 4.2 include:

Team Member Allocation Report. This report gives management a central view of who is working on what. Organized by weekly or monthly workloads, the report identifies individuals that are over-allocated as well as those that maybe under-utilized and available to help with under-staffed projects.

Printing Enhancements: The "print-to-cards" feature now displays full, unabridged titles and allows for dynamic font re-sizing. "Print-to-cards" also automatically prioritizes the title and description fields over less important fields, cropping those fields if necessary.

Combined Theme Filtering: "Themes" are the primary mechanism in ScrumWorks Pro for categorizing Backlog Items by associating a specific keyword to a specific item or group of items. Now, ScrumWorks Pro provides users with additional flexibility in filtering requirements by Themes as well as Theme-based reports.

Improved Product Backlog Item Reporting: A complete re-design of the Product Backlog Item module for Web reports provides an improved user experience and stronger reporting capability with the addition of a "Status" filter to already existing "Release" and "Themes" filter options.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.2 is available now and can be purchased directly from Danube. Pricing is offered through an on-site, per-seat subscription license that starts at $289-per-user, per-year, or less than $25 per-user, per-month, as well as an on-site, per-seat fully paid license for $500.

Rawsthorne to provide practical approaches to successful release planning and backlog management

Who: Dan Rawsthorne
Certified Scrum Trainer and Senior Consultant
Danube Technologies, Inc. (www.danube.com)

Rawsthorne has been developing software for more than 25 years and is an accomplished manager, mentor, coach, trainer, consultant, and architect. The projects he has worked on range from e-commerce, to databases, military avionics and Air Traffic Control. He is a Certified Scrum Trainer for Danube Technologies, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development. Rawsthorne holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Illinois.

What: Release Planning: A Strategy for Success
One of the primary responsibilities of the Product Owner and project teams is release planning. Stakeholders want, need, and deserve to know what they will be getting-and when. How do you do this in an agile environment? Although many find it tempting to create a release plan as a series of sprint plans, this is a mistake. It violates the lean principle of "minimal inventory" and will be wrong-the same is true with traditional project planning. In this half-day tutorial, Dan Rawsthorne presents "rules of thumb" for developing a release strategy and spending game plan. Participants will practice using these rules during a guided exercise, walk through an example release, and learn how to monitor and measure the release plan.

Storyotypes: The Patterns within the Stories
In this informative presentation, Rawsthorne will explore why and how similar stories appear over and over again as organizations develop systems. According to Rawsthorne, stories-small chunks of work that make up a backlog and provide demonstrable value to the project-can be categorized by purpose including: production, analysis, cleanup, infrastructure/environment, business support, or other. Within each of these categories are different "storyotypes" - patterns that define the commonalities among the stories themselves. Rawsthorne will define and describe some of the most prevalent storyotypes, explaining why they are useful, and demonstrates the concept with examples. Rawsthorne will discuss how by employing storyotypes in developing stories, teams will produce more consistent, higher quality requirements that are easier to work with.

When: Release Planning: A Strategy for Success
Mon., November 9
1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST

Storyotypes: The Patterns within the Stories
Thurs., November 12
12:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. EST

Where: Rosen Shingle Creek
9939 Universal Boulevard
Orlando, FL 32819

To register, visit: (https://www.sqe.com/agiledevpractices/Register/SelectConference.aspx)

Contact: For more information on this presentation or to set up an interview with Dr. Rawsthorne, please contact Christie Denniston at Catapult PR-IR (303) 581-7760, ext. 13 or cdenniston@catapultpr-ir.com

danube agile scrum release planning

New features bolster program management with Scrum, helping users prioritize and better allocate resource 'budgets' when working in Epics

BELLEVUE, Wash., October 12, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc., the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced ScrumWorks® Pro 4.1, a new version of the only enterprise-grade tool designed exclusively to manage Scrum. New features of ScrumWorks Pro provide the ability to easily prioritize requirements at the Epic level, set and establish budgets for Epics, and improve Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for broader integration capabilities.

"Our experience helping enterprise customers manage large, complex development efforts has shown us an urgent need for tools that can help organizations of this size coordinate multiple development groups," said Victor Szalvay, Danube CTO and product owner of ScrumWorks Pro. "The latest release of ScrumWorks Pro provides capabilities that allow program managers not only to prioritize Epics, but also assign and track associated budgets. As always, these feature additions were driven by the request of our most successful enterprise customers."
New features of ScrumWorks Pro:

Prioritization of Epics: ScrumWorks Pro allows product owners to manage and prioritize Epics (large Scrum user stories with unknown requirements or effort estimates, which often span multiple products) with the same drag-and-drop ease of standard user stories. For the largest enterprises, ScrumWorks Pro 4.1 provides the capability to manage and prioritize multiple Epics..

Budgets for Epics: Because Epics have been historically difficult to estimate, ScrumWorks Pro now allows teams to establish resource guidelines, set milestones for each release, place parameters around resource usage and set automated alerts when pre-determined thresholds are close to being exceeded. These new "budgeting" features provide increased visibility into the effort put forth to
complete an Epic and soft limits on the amount of work budgeted for a particular milestone.

API Enhancements: Danube continues to strengthen its API for Epics, programs, themes and other user-requested enhancements.

Integration Updates: ScrumWorks 4.1 includes the latest integrations for JIRA 4.0 and Bugzilla 3.4.2.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.1 is currently available and can be purchased directly from Danube.

As Scrum continues to gain popularity among developers and managers alike, the framework which was originally conceived for use with small, co-located teams is being scaled to accommodate Scrum-of-Scrum installations of thousands of users. However, as many large organizations have attempted to translate the benefits of small team Scrum to enterprise-level installations, the available Scrum and agile tools lacked functionality powerful enough to accurately model such complex development.

ScrumWorks Pro 4 addresses the needs of larger development organizations by providing an intuitive way to track cross-product development at the program level. Utilizing "Themes," keyword tags for convenient sorting and filtering, users can assign an "Epics" theme to all the constituent products in a program. This allows them to roll up data into a high-level program view, providing a realistic assessment of progress and enabling informed release forecasting.
Pricing and Availability

ScrumWorks Pro 4 is available and can be purchased directly from Danube. Pricing is offered through an on-site, per-seat subscription license that starts at $289-per-user, per-year, or less than $25 per-user, per-month, as well as an on-site, per-seat fully paid license for $500.

Tight times and continued adoption of Scrum lead to dramatic increase in registered users downloads - 10,000 in the first two months of 2009

BELLEVUE, Wash. - March 30, 2009, Danube Technologies, Inc., http://www.danube.com, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, today announced demand and registrations for its free Scrum management tool, ScrumWorks Basic, has spiked dramatically since January 1, 2009. The company has seen more than 10,000 software professionals and development teams register for ScrumWorks Basic during January and February alone, marking a 60 percent increase in unique registrations for Basic compared to the same time period last year. The free download of ScrumWorks Basic is available at http://www.danube.com/scrumworks/basic/download.

"Given the state of the economy, we're not surprised to see a sudden rise in popularity of our free tool," said Laszlo Szalvay, president of Danube Technologies, Inc. "This trend also signals the continued rise in Scrum adoption and how incremental approaches to project management are helping organizations weather tough times. As one of the first free Scrum tools made available to the agile community, ScrumWorks Basic continues to provide value to organizations looking to improve software development practices and the overall efficiency of the business."

ScrumWorks, offered through the free Basic version and commercial Pro edition, is the only software tool designed from the ground-up to be 100 percent dedicated to Scrum success. Launched at XP Universe in August 2004, it allows teams, product owners and stakeholders to manage every aspect of Scrum at the program, product release and sprint levels. It offers role-based project tracking, reporting and requirements traceability for building successful Scrum projects based on best practices. ScrumWorks Basic provides the "basic" functionality needed to run Scrum projects, including project management, drag-and-drop prioritization of work, sprint tracking and management, basic reporting and data accessibility.

What: Agile Processes People and Methods

In this presentation, Rawsthorne will explain how a Scrum team is driven by its product owner, who is responsible for maximizing the value of what the team builds. The understanding of the nature of the product owner has changed over the years and has morphed from being the lead stakeholder to a full-fledged member of the team. In this interactive discussion, Rawsthorne will explore the modern approach of looking at the product owner, both as a person and as a role. As a person, the product owner is the team member who is accountable to management for the success of the team. As a role, the product owner has more responsibilities than a single person can typically handle, including: stakeholder management, release planning, driving the team at a sustainable pace, and accepting and releasing the team's product. In this session, Rawsthorne will describe the challenges faced by the product owner and the team.

BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan. 6, 2008, Danube Technologies, Inc., http://www.danube.com, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, today announced that its ScrumWorks® Pro tool has been selected as a finalist for Dr. Dobb's 19th Annual Jolt Product Excellence Awards in the Project Management category. ScrumWorks is used by leading software-driven organizations world-wide.

"Having ScrumWorks Pro recognized as a finalist for the Jolt Awards is a credit to all of the hard work and ingenuity that went into making this product, from our development team and coaches to our loyal customer base that provide outstanding input for continuous product improvement," said Victor Szalvay, co-founder and CTO for Danube. "Our 100 percent commitment to the Scrum process has resulted in a very practical and easy-to-use project management tool that helps development teams of all sizes stay focused on developing high-value software."

For the past 19 years, Dr. Dobb's Jolt Awards have been presented annually to products that have "jolted" the industry through innovation and for making the task of creating software faster, easier and more efficient. The Jolt judges are recognized as forward-looking industry leaders, who provide insight into the latest and most promising trends. They define which software development products are ahead of the curve and honor products that are universally useful, simple to use and rich in functionality. The Jolt Awards ceremony will take place on March 11 at SD West 2009 Conference & Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Free Expo passes that include access to the Jolt Awards and other special events are available at http://www.sdexpo.com.

"The Jolt judges look for the most innovative and useful products used by software developers and Danube's ScrumWorks meets that criterion within the Project Management category," said Jolt Awards Manager Amber Ankerholz. "I applaud Danube and its team for being selected by our panel of experts as a Jolt finalist."

ScrumWorks Pro is the only software tool designed from the ground-up to be 100 percent dedicated to Scrum success. Launched in January 2007, it allows teams, product owners and stakeholders to manage every aspect of Scrum at the program, product release and sprint levels. The free download is available at http://www.danube.com/scrumworks/basic/download.

Company continues to see growth in Scrum adoption

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 17, 2008, Danube Technologies, Inc., http://www.danube.com, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, today announced the user-base of its ScrumWorks® project management tool has exceeded 100,000 registered users. ScrumWorks, the only commercial tool designed exclusively for the Scrum lifecycle, is offered as both downloadable freeware, called ScrumWorks Basic, and an enterprise-ready, commercial tool, called ScrumWorks Pro. Currently, there are more than 105,000 ScrumWorks registered users around the globe.
"Because ScrumWorks closely adheres to the principles of Scrum and provides an extremely practical, easy-to-use and intuitive framework to manage the process, the adoption of both the Basic and Pro versions continues to increase," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and co-founder of Danube. "Reaching the 100,000-user milestone further illustrates how Scrum continues to emerge as the leading agile methodology and how the tool continues to help teams, from tiny start-ups to multi-thousand-seat development organizations, adopt, scale and succeed with Scrum."

ScrumWorks Pro is the only software tool designed from the ground-up to be 100 percent dedicated to Scrum success. Launched in January 2007, it allows teams, product owners and stakeholders to manage every aspect of Scrum at the program, product release and sprint levels. It offers role-based project tracking, reporting and requirements traceability for building successful Scrum projects based on best practices. The free download is available at http://www.danube.com/scrumworks/basic/download.

In addition to strong growth in ScrumWorks users, Danube's ScrumCORETM training division has experienced a similar increase in demand. Since 2006, thousands of individuals have completed Danube Certified ScrumMaster training, and course enrollment has been exceptionally high in the fourth quarter of 2008, with nearly all courses through the end of the year at or near capacity. To celebrate, Danube is currently offering a discount on its 2009 courses: All enrollments processed prior to January 1, 2009 will receive 2008 course rates. A complete list of upcoming courses can be found here: http://www.danube.com/courses

"We're excited to see Scrum adoption to continue its upward trend, even with the slowing economy," said Katie Playfair, director of Danube client services. "Through our training and coaching services, we have helped many organizations become more effective by increasing employee retention, creating hyperproductive teams with fewer people, and by increasing quality while decreasing time to market. We look forward to continuing this work as the need for efficiency grows throughout many industries."

"As our customer base transitions towards larger organizations with established purchasing processes, Danube is adopting a more traditional approach to licensing to better fit corporate needs," said Victor Szalvay, Danube CTO and Product Owner of ScrumWorks Pro. "This new model allows customers to know their software procurement costs upfront, and fits into existing Fortune 500 IT purchasing patterns."

As opposed to the time-limited, pay-for-use scenario of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) pricing model, the perpetual licensing model provides Danube customers with full rights to and uninterrupted usage of the industry's most advanced and comprehensive Scrum software tool for a one-time fee. Danube's perpetual license provides customers with access to ScrumWorks Pro without the hassle and uncertainty of monthly fees (which are increasingly requested in annual, up-front payments). With a perpetual license, Danube customers retain full usage rights of the software and are able to control upgrades internally as needed. It also empowers enterprise organizations to reap the benefits of Scrum without constant disruptions to productivity with forced new versions, as well as unused and unwanted feature functionality.

Danube's new perpetual subscription pricing offers:
- "True-Cost-of-Ownership": Now, the actual cost of maintaining ScrumWorks Pro is a known quantity. With SaaS subscription models, fees can fluctuate, extra expenses can be added, and the actual overall cost exceeds those of perpetual licenses over time.
- Simplified Procurement: Perpetual licensing eliminates the need for yearly licensing purchase orders.
- Application Efficiency: Enterprise customers can easily monitor and re-allocate Danube software based on actual usage and organizational requirements.
- Elimination of Hidden Fees: SaaS subscription models can result in higher-than-anticipated implementation, integration and infrastructure expenses. A perpetual license ensures an organization's initial investment is consistent and does not increase with each new version or update.
- Paying for Direct Value: Because Danube's only product offering is ScrumWorks, customers can know that fees directly finance improvements to the tool, including additional functionality. Often, vendors inflate fees in order to finance the development of additional products, which may not necessarily result in software that is relevant or valuable to the customer.
- Supports Large Enterprise Requirements: Danube's perpetual licensing dovetails with the growing need to host vital data, such as strategic software product development information, in-house. Delivered through an on-premise model and perpetual license, ScrumWorks Pro helps large enterprise customers keep data safe and secure, while eliminating the potential risk that proprietary information will be 'leaked' to or accessed by competitors.

"While Software-as-a-Service offers clear benefits to small- and mid-sized organizations, we are witnessing unmatched demand from our enterprise customer base for perpetual licensing that grants full control of the product, how it is used and deployed, and addresses the growing concern of unknown cost of ownership associated with the subscription pricing model," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and co-founder of Danube. "Danube is committed to simplifying and improving the flexibility of licensing for our enterprise customers and, in turn, we are seeing increased adoption of this new model."

New Licensing Details
Under the new licensing model, ScrumWorks Pro will be available for $500 USD per user (per-seat) and provide perpetual access to the tool without recurring subscription fees. Unlimited access to technical support and regularly released product upgrades is available through a renewable, annual support contract. Danube also offers concurrent licenses; interested parties are encouraged to inquire for eligibility.

Danube training and ScrumWorks Pro help government team adopt Scrum practices to replace legacy applications and deliver improved community services

BELLEVUE, Wash., Oct. 9, 2008 - Danube Technologies, Inc., http://www.danube.com, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, is helping the Idaho Dept. of Health & Welfare (IDHW) develop mission-critical software with its ScrumCORETM training and ScrumWorks® Pro project management software. With Danube, IDHW project leaders are managing a three-year development project that will automate the eligibility process and improve the delivery of key social services to more than 25 percent of the state's population.

Replacing a 22-year-old legacy mainframe system, one that is counted on by a large percentage of citizens for vital services, required a flexible, incremental approach to software development. IDHW turned toward Danube and the Scrum method which provided the necessary structure, agility and visibility needed for such a large and complex project.

The original EPICS system crashed repeatedly when first introduced in 1986, interfering with the delivery of State benefits. Danube's approach to Scrum mitigates these risks by emphasizing a rigorous definition of "done," applied early and often, rather than only testing at the end. Working with Danube two decades later, the IDHW team built a cohesive organization of more than 65 developers, internal stakeholders and Product Owners that collectively met each and every milestone of the "four-phase," three-year project. Key benefits identified have included:

Increased accessibility to view all project sprints along with expected dates of delivery

Ability for the entire department to view impediments and assist in removing these barriers to keep the project on track

Enhanced prioritization of work identified and ability to load tasks into new distinct products inside of ScrumWorks Pro, resulting in improved communications between the project and management

- Success of project in streamlining essential services to the citizens of Idaho has established a foundation for future software development projects in the state

From the beginning of the engagement, called "EPICS Replacement," the IDHW project team committed to the Scrum process to develop a single, coherent n-tier solution that is made up of best-in-class products. The project started with Danube's ScrumCORE division providing Scrum training and consulting to ensure the Scrum method helped deliver improved software and also served as a means of reengineering business processes for efficiency. To coordinate and provide visibility for the project, the IDHW chose Danube's ScrumWorks Pro, the only software tool designed to be 100 percent dedicated to Scrum success. It allows teams, Product Owners and stakeholders to manage every aspect of Scrum at the program, product release and sprint levels. It also offers role-based project tracking, reporting and requirements traceability for building successful Scrum projects based on best practices.

The EPICS Replacement project is well underway for phased deployment in 2009. To date, the State has remained on track by adhering to the principles of Scrum and through the use of ScrumWorks Pro, with developers and stakeholders using the system daily to update key tasks and eliminate impediments. IDHW also reports the success of the project will likely result in other Idaho State government agencies following suit for future software development projects.

"When I dropped in on the IDHW team recently, I was particularly impressed that the transformation had become 'self-sustaining,'" said Michael James, the Danube Certified Scrum Trainer who worked onsite as an embedded coach for the project. "With more than two years of experience, the organization has become even more committed to Scrum, agile, and lean principles. The fact that the team overcame all the challenges of state government bureaucracy to accomplish this is all the more impressive. I'm proud that Danube's products and services contributed to this success."

AGILE 2008 TORONTO, Ontario, Canada, Aug., 5, 2008 - Danube Technologies, Inc., (www.danube.com) the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, today announced ScrumCORETM, its newly formed services division that addresses the entire continuum of Scrum implementations, from early stages to advanced enterprise programs.

In addition to growing its training staff to five Certified Scrum Trainers (CSTs), the ScrumCORE team now offers free webinar sessions for beginners and Certified Scrum Product Owner classes for Scrum professionals interested in improving their product ownership skills. Danube's product and services offerings help organizations become more successful using Scrum. The company's training services have been employed by organizations including Intel, Oracle, F5, and Microsoft Corporation.

"By adding free webinars for beginners and advanced enterprise-focused classes for experienced Scrum professionals, ScrumCORE has broadened its focus to speak to the needs of novice and advanced practitioners," explained Katie Playfair, Danube's director of client services. "ScrumCORE continues to provide strong support for our clients and is in the process of developing new ways to bring Scrum values, principles and practices to the software community as a whole."

Each year, Danube and its team of trainers conduct more than 100 public classes around the globe and continue to experience strong growth, especially throughout Europe. The ScrumCORE team also conducts a steady schedule of private, on-site training and coaching sessions to customers seeking support for organization-side transformations to Scrum.

Danube's ScrumCORE training and coaching services are offered in both public and private settings through comprehensive course offerings that include:

Free Scrum Introductory Webinars - These free Web sessions cover the basic and principles of Scrum and how organizations can get started using the methodology.

Certified ScrumMaster Course - This two-day course on the principles and practices of Scrum results in participants becoming Certified ScrumMasters.

Introduction to Agile and Scrum Course - This two-day course focuses on the rationale for agile and Scrum, rather than the specific practices taught in the certified course. This class is ideal for participants seeking a general overview of agile and Scrum methodologies, as well as a forum to discuss how suited these frameworks are for their organizations.

Product Owner Course - This two-day course is intended for Product Owners, business analysts, managers and executives. Occasionally, the Product Owner course will be offered as a third, optional day, following a two-day Certified ScrumMaster course. Some Product Owner courses are certified, in which participants will receive the Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) designation through the Scrum Alliance.

ScrumWorks® Implementation and Use Course - This is a one-day course that is often, but not always, taught in addition to a Certified ScrumMaster, Intro to Agile or Product Owner class. Participants will learn to install, configure and use ScrumWorks for planning and team meetings, release planning, metrics evaluation, and program management.

Danube customers can draw from Schiel's experience building
one of the largest Scrum software development practices in the world

BELLEVUE, Wash., July 16, 2008 - Danube Technologies, Inc., (www.danube.com) the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, today announced that Jim Schiel has joined the company as a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). The addition of Schiel brings the number of Danube CSTs to five, out of a select group of just 54 worldwide, helping to meet growing demand for training by large enterprise customers as they standardize agile development practices using the Scrum method.

"Large organizations are moving from pilot agile projects to enterprise-wide deployments and using Scrum to scale these initiatives in a cohesive manner that will yield value to both developer and business stakeholders," said Katie Playfair, director of client services for Danube. "Having Jim join our ScrumCORETM team is of tremendous value to our customers, based on his experience building one of the largest and most successful enterprise Scrum installations in the world. While some people talk about enterprise Scrum, Jim has been doing it for years."

Schiel joins Danube after 22 years with Siemens, where he worked initially as a developer, then as a manager for 16 years, eventually playing an instrumental role in creating one of the largest Scrum installations in the world. As a business process engineer at Siemens, he helped identify, document, and implement best practices for enterprise Scrum. As a result, he witnessed Scrum organically spread throughout the organization to include 97 Scrum teams across five projects, working from distributed sites around the world, in the last four years.

Danube and its ScrumCORETM training team, which consists of five CSTs, lead the industry in Scrum training and coaching. ScrumCORE training is delivered by respected industry thought leaders with deep, hands-on experience guiding organizations through Scrum transformations. Its course offerings include: Certified ScrumMaster Courses; Introduction to Agile and Scrum Courses; Certified and Uncertified Product Owner Courses; and ScrumWorks Implementation and Use Courses. In addition to North America, Danube training services are offered throughout Europe and Asia.

"I love the challenge of sitting down with a team, working together to solve problems, and seeing the results," Schiel says. "Given my passion for coaching and training, I'm very excited to help organizations scale Scrum programs and to share the experiences I gained within a very large enterprise software development environment."

About Danube Technologies
Founded in 2000, Danube provides software and training exclusively focused on the Scrum method of agile software development. The company's ScrumWorks® Pro and ScrumWorks Basic products are licensed to more than 85,000 software professionals worldwide, making it the most widely used software in the industry for managing Scrum projects. Danube complements its software offering with a comprehensive schedule of ScrumCORETM training courses, which are taught globally by Danube's five Certified Scrum Trainers.
