CollabNet outlines a five-step blueprint for embracing Enterprise Cloud Development as the next evolution in software development and deployment
BRISBANE, Calif., May 16, 2012 – CollabNet® (www.collab.net), a global leader for Enterprise Cloud Development and Agile ALM products and services, has created an animated video scribe that succinctly outlines five principles IT organizations can use to adopt and scale cloud development practices. CollabNet worked collectively with its internal experts, cloud platform partners and enterprise customers to develop a practical roadmap for Enterprise Cloud Development that addresses the cultural, technical and process aspects of cloud development and how it extends the value of Agile and DevOps in the enterprise.
Animated video scribes are fun, highly engaging presentations that highlight and simplify often complex concepts through the use of visual and audio learning queues. Through a blend of audio storytelling and professional animation, video scribes help magnify and reinforce key learning points for enterprise and industry organizations. “The rate or change and the accompanying complexity within the IT industry can be overwhelming, especially within the software development and cloud computing industries,” said Jim Ensell, chief marketing and strategy officer for CollabNet. “We challenged ourselves to outline the core principles of Enterprise Cloud Development in five practical steps and to detail them within a fun and engaging video scribe that runs just more than three minutes.”
Based on its years of experience and patterns of customer success, CollabNet has outlined a blueprint containing five practical steps to guide organizations on their path to Enterprise Cloud Development as they adopt hybrid cloud IT into the application development and deployment lifecycle. The steps include: 1) embrace the cloud for centralizing access and visibility to tools and processes; 2) create a robust coding community to encourage reuse; 3) codify development processes by standardizing tools, workflows and processes; 4) automate DevOps practices; and 5) take a hybrid approach by leveraging public and on-premise private cloud resources in a secure, compliant and optimal way.
In addition to the video scribe, CollabNet has developed additional videos and a white paper that outlines in more detail the principles of Enterprise Cloud Development. All of the content is available free by visiting (www.collab.net/ecd).

Industry experts to share firsthand expertise and best practices to speed application delivery through DevOps initiatives
WHO: Paul Peissner – Director of Business Development
CollabNet
Peissner has spent more than a decade driving IT productivity in the enterprise software space, leveraging platform strategies with innovative partner offerings to create best-in-class solutions. More recently, he has deep experience in BSM (Business Service Management) and ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) initiatives, having managed the partner ecosystems for BMC and, in his current position, managing CollabNet partners and developing DevOps strategies for enterprise IT organizations.
Patrick Debois – DevOps Enthusiast
Debois is an independent IT consultant, blogger and DevOps enthusiast who helps bridge the gap between development projects and IT operations by using Agile techniques in development, project management and system administration. He first presented concepts on Agile Infrastructure at the Agile2008 conference, and in 2009, he organized the first DevOps Days. Since then, he has been promoting the notion of ‘DevOps’ to exchange ideas and promote how development and operations groups can better collaborate to achieve improved results in business.
WHAT: “Renovating App Delivery-DevOps Successes and Pitfalls”
DevOps is grounded in the belief that IT operations and IT development (engineering and QA) can truly work as one IT resource to drive business agility. DevOps enables cross-functional IT teams to deliver projects faster and make service adjustments more frequently, at improved quality and reduced cost. This webinar is designed for enterprise architects, IT development, IT operations and change management personnel interested in enhancing their collaborative landscape.
Peissner and Debois will draw on their firsthand experience and extensive knowledge of market trends to highlight the top five adoption advantages of this fast-growth emerging market that IT operations rarely consider. The presenters will outline DevOps adoption pitfalls, and how to avoid them. They also will leverage the successes of early innovators to illustrate the benefits of strategic DevOps implementations.

WHAT: Enterprise IT departments have increased developer productivity, saved millions and realized governance with DevOps. However, as the value and importance of software delivery increases, the importance of applying business management to the discipline of software also grows. ALM 2.0+ describes changes to traditional ALM in terms of breadth and depth. ALM 2.0+ tools and strategies expand integration with operations and accept tool and platform heterogeneity. They impose a boundary above practitioner tools and encourage ALM to interact with those tools in the context of work and harvest information for traceability, reporting and management.
Attendees of this webinar will learn why ALM 2.0+ is vital for implementing Agile software delivery and DevOps on enterprise scale, and how it’s different from traditional ALM approaches. How CollabNet’s TeamForge platform enables central governance, without mandating end-user tools or repositories, or locking customers into rigid software configurations. And, what key factors contributed to Deutsche Post realizing 30 percent faster time to market and saving more than 20 percent in IT operations cost, across 800 diverse projects
