TASKTOP NAMES NEELAN CHOKSI PRESIDENT AND COO

Choksi appointment latest addition to Tasktop executive team
as it continues rapid growth

ORLANDO (AGILE 2010), Aug. 9, 2010 - Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and the leader in Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) integration and productivity, today announced Neelan Choksi as its president and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Choksi, a long-time board member of Tasktop, brings extensive experience from his track record of successful leadership roles at technology companies such as SolarMetric (acquired by BEA), SpringSource (acquired by VMware) and Lexcycle (acquired by Amazon). Choksi will be responsible for managing and further accelerating Tasktop's rapid growth and will also head the US operations of the Vancouver-based company.

"Neelan has that very rare ability to repeatedly turn pain points with the status quo into thriving start-ups, communities and product offerings," explain Kersten, CEO of Tasktop and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "Neelan helped create one of the largest open source acquisitions as COO of SpringSource, followed by his success with Stanza, the first massively popular ebook reader, in his role as CEO of Lexcycle. This unique breadth of expertise provides Tasktop the experience needed to continue scaling our enterprise-focused Agile and ALM offerings, while paving the road to transforming the productivity of all knowledge workers with the task-focused desktop."

Choksi brings extensive technology management experience to Tasktop. Most recently he served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Lexcycle, the company that developed Stanza, which became the most popular ebook reader for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. Lexcycle was acquired by Amazon in 2009. Prior to Lexcycle, Neelan served as the COO for SpringSource, the venture-backed open source infrastructure software company behind the Spring Framework, acquired for $420M by VMware in 2009. Before joining SpringSource, Choksi served as co-founder and president of SolarMetric, a leading object relational mapping provider, which was acquired by BEA Systems in 2005. At BEA, Neelan was instrumental in open sourcing the acclaimed object/relational mapping tool Kodo as OpenJPA. Prior to SolarMetric, he held positions at Accenture and Exxon. Choksi is a graduate of MIT (and was part of the often-publicized MIT Blackjack team) and holds a graduate degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

"Tasktop has a massive community and has reached the tipping point of commercial adoption," said Choksi. "I'm thrilled to join the company during this rapid growth phase and help more organizations realize the transformational productivity benefits of the task-focused collaboration paradigm."

TASKTOP INTRODUCES AGILE PLANNER FOR ECLIPSE AT AGILE 2010

New product enables Agile planning from the IDE and integrates multi-vendor Agile ALM solutions

ORLANDO (Agile 2010), Aug. 9, 2010 - Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and the leader in Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) integration and productivity, today announced the Tasktop Agile Planner, a new product that leverages Mylyn connectors to provide Agile teams the ability to manage existing defect and project management systems with planning support that spans across multiple vendors' solutions. The planner provides a rich and Eclipse-based user interface for accessing Tasktop Certified Agile project management integrations, including ThoughtWorks Studios' Mingle, IBM Rational Team Concert, Rally, CollabNet's ScrumWorks, Atlassian's JIRA and VersionOne.

The Tasktop Agile Planner provides a unique Eclipse-based native user interface for Windows, Mac and Linux that enhances the web-based interfaces of those solutions and additionally provides offline access to plans. Only the Tasktop Agile Planner offers cross-repository planning facilities that enable user stories to be associated with defects stored in external systems, such as HP Quality Center and Bugzilla. The Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE) integration supports automatic linking between plan items and source code artifacts, and enables developers and team leads to create and monitor Agile development plans directly from Eclipse, making it effortless to maintain project status awareness and keep plans up-to-date.

"The problem of plans becoming disconnected from development activity is rampant in enterprise adoptions of Agile," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "The Tasktop Agile Planner addresses this by ensuring that all ALM systems involved with planning are linked and accessible directly from the Eclipse IDE, where developers and team leads spend the majority of their workday. When combined with the Tasktop developer tools this additional level of integration enhances the best-of-breed Agile project management solutions that we integrate with by ensuring that plans are a real-time representation of development activity."

Tasktop Agile Planner provides project managers, developers, and quality assurance team members with a lightweight yet complete planning platform for managing the entire Agile planning process. Core features of Tasktop Agile Planner include:

Task Planner: allows for plan creation of releases and iterations, supports plans that span multiple systems, for instance, a plan can include a story in Rally that is linked to defects in a JIRA repository (which also are displayed on the plan).

Task Board: provides a visual display of tasks not started, in progress and complete, right in the developer's IDE.

Burn Down Charts: provides a graphical representation of outstanding work over time.

Time Tracking: automates the tracking of time spent on stories and the ability to view of actual time tracking information recorded in the IDE on the plan

Availability
The Tasktop Agile Planner is available now in a beta version through Tasktop's early access program, with general availability set for mid-September. Learn more at http://tasktop.com/agile or contact Tasktop to join the early access program at http://tasktop.com/about/contactus/. Tasktop also will be demonstrating the product at its booth at Agile 2010 (www.agile2010.org). When released, the Tasktop Agile Planner will support in-IDE planning for Tasktop Certified ALM solutions, such as IBM Rational Team Concert, Atlassian JIRA, CollabNet's ScrumWorks, Rally, ThoughtWorks Studios' Mingle and VersionOne.

Tasktop continues to lead innovation around connecting task management activities
with leading Agile ALM platforms

VANCOUVER, June 23, 2010 - Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and a leading provider of task management for application lifecycle management (ALM), today announced Tasktop Pro 1.7, which builds on the release of Mylyn 3.4, the latest version of the most widely adopted ALM integration suite for the Eclipse IDE.

Green to lead development of company's flagship product Tasktop Pro and
Eclipse ALM integration services

VANCOUVER, June 15, 2010 - Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and a leading provider of task management for application lifecycle management (ALM), today announced David Green as its vice president of engineering. Green will be responsible for the delivery of Tasktop's line of products based on its revolutionary task-focused interface technology, and will lead associated development consulting and support services for the company.

"We are extremely pleased to have David join in our mission of transforming the productivity of software developers." said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project "Open source is an amazing enabler of collaborations that bring together individuals with a shared vision of bringing about a disruptive change. David Green's contributions to our vision started when he engaged directly with the Mylyn project and contributed the great WikiText component that he continues to lead. We are thrilled that he will now bring his broad experience in developer tools to the rest of our open source and commercial offerings".

Prior to joining Tasktop, Green was a founding member of MAKE Technologies where he held the positions of CTO, vice president of technology and principal tools architect. At MAKE, Green pioneered a model-driven approach to legacy modernization on the Eclipse platform. Green is deeply involved in the Eclipse community as the creator and lead of Mylyn WikiText, a framework and tools for integrating wiki formatting into the Eclipse platform. In addition, Green has led the Eclipse Marketplace Client and Mylyn Connector Discovery, two initiatives that are making it dramatically easier for the community to find and install Eclipse extensions. Green is especially well known for his widely read blog Green's Opinion (http://greensopinion. blogspot.com/), apps for iPhone and Android, and speaking engagements at conferences such as JavaOne and EclipseCon.

"Since it was invented Mylyn has profoundly impacted my effectiveness and productivity," said Green. "I'm pleased to announce that it has transformed my career as well. I'm thrilled to take the lead on the delivery of Tasktop's suite of enterprise products based on the Mylyn framework. It's very exciting to be part of a world-class team delivering transformational benefits to organizations adopting the task-focused paradigm."

Most recently, Tasktop announced the IBM Rational Team Concert Mylyn Connector. The new connector enables Mylyn's task-focused interface technology for Rational Team Concert, which is designed to improve developer productivity by displaying only the source code that is relevant for each work item.
WHAT: Eclipse Mylyn: Redefining the "I" of the IDE

In less than four years, the Mylyn task-focused interface went from a university whiteboard to broad-based adoption by hundreds of thousands of Java, C++ and web developers. Not long ago, the notion of a tool that hides more of the program than it shows sounded crazy. But as Mylyn continues its rapid adoption, the evolution of the IDE is clear. Tasks are more important than files, focus is more important than features, and task-focused collaboration yields big productivity boosts for developers. This presentation by the creator of the Eclipse Mylyn project will provide an overview of how software developments teams can increase productivity with Mylyn. In addition, Kersten will explain how new Mylyn integrations for Rational Team Concert, ClearQuest, ClearCase, Synergy and Change yield enormous benefits to software developers and organizations seeking to reduce time to market.

WHERE: Innovate 2010 - The Rational Software Conference
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel
1500 Epcot Resorts Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830

WHO: Mik Kersten
CEO of Tasktop Technologies
Creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project
Tasktop Technologies
www.tasktop.com

 Steffen Pingel
Senior Software Developer
Tasktop Technologies
http://www.tasktop.com

WHAT: The following presentations will be given at JAX 2010

From Tasks to Tweets: Social Collaboration for Software Developers
Mik Kersten (May 5, 2010 - 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.)
Developers are increasingly relying on social technologies to ensure projects are completed. Many software developers are concerned that constant real-time communication will bring productivity to a halt. In this presentation, Kersten will share how new technologies and practices are forming in order to help organizations harness social collaboration as part of an Agile process and integrated tool set. This talk will demonstrate how developers can use the latest social tools alongside established Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) technologies to promote productivity instead of procrastination.

Mylyn 3.4: from Stack Trace to Scrum
Mik Kersten (May 5, 2010 - 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.)
The rapid adoption of Mylyn has made next big evolution of the IDE clear. Stories and tasks are more central than sourcecode, focus is more important than features, and integration with the Agile workflow is the biggest productivity boost since code completion. During this presentation, Kersten will review how new features in the latest Mylyn release and new integrations can increase the productivity of the entire Agile software development team.

Bringing easy Extension Install to your RCP Applications
Steffen Pingel (May 4, 2010 - 4:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.)
Eclipse P2 is a powerful tool for managing plug-ins but lacks a UI that matches the ease of use of the Firefox extension installer which has helped to perpetuate the browsers success. In this talk, Pingel will share his experience with how to bring the Firefox install experience to RCP applications and Eclipse-based tools to the Mylyn project which has developed a reusable component on top of P2 that provides a simplified installer.

"We believe Tasktop's inclusion in Gartner's Cool Vendor report emphasizes the growing need for a task management solution that integrates heterogeneous ALM stacks, whether open source based, best-of-breed, or Agile-specific," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "It's great to see Gartner recognize Tasktop's products, open source community, and broad ecosystem of leading Agile and ALM vendors that are working with Tasktop to bring developer productivity to the next level through task-focused collaboration."

New integration to boost developer productivity through direct access to VersionOne from the Eclipse IDE

VANCOUVER and ATLANTA, Dec. 17, 2009 - Tasktop Technologies (http://tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and provider of task management integration for Agile ALM, and VersionOne (http://www.versionone.com), recognized by agile practitioners as the leader in agile project management tools, today announced a partnership to create the VersionOne Mylyn Connector. Set for release with Tasktop Pro in March, 2010, the connector will help streamline software development by providing direct access to VersionOne products from within the Eclipse IDE.

The VersionOne Mylyn Connector builds on Mylyn's innovative task-focused productivity technology to provide development teams with the most relevant source code for a given task. It helps reduce information overload for large-scale development projects and facilitate more efficient and collaborative multitasking. The Tasktop Pro integration is a standalone application that will provide rich desktop access to stories, defects and tasks in VersionOne for product owners. The integration will be included in Tasktop Pro, and provide time-tracking facilities as well as the ability to link VersionOne stories and defects to dependent artifacts in other systems with a Mylyn connector. It will be Tasktop Certified, and appear in the Mylyn Connector Discovery listing that is included in eight of nine Eclipse distribution packages.

"As agile development reaches deeper into the enterprise, the task management layer is critical to providing developers with IDE workflow integration, and project managers with a more accurate view of progress and status," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "The VersionOne integration will leverage the broad network of Mylyn-based ALM tools, providing developers with a fully integrated suite that takes advantage of VersionOne's leadership in agile project management."

V1: Agile Enterprise is one of the leading agile project management tools on the market. It provides an easy-to-use, centralized agile planning and management platform that is used globally by thousands of multi-team, multi-project development organizations. With a simple, standardized agile process flow and enhanced team collaboration features, V1: Agile Enterprise is a highly scalable, flexible and informative management tool. The Tasktop Pro and Mylyn Connector provides a new productivity layer that links VersionOne's project management capabilities with real-time development activity, improving project status visibility for team leads and product owners.

"VersionOne is committed to helping software organizations drive efficiencies and improvements in productivity," said Robert C. Holler, VersionOne president and CEO. "With the connector, the productivity benefits of Mylyn's task-focused interface technology will be available to VersionOne teams. The integration also enables users to easily move or link artifacts between applications connected to Tasktop, such as Microsoft Outlook, Bugzilla and ClearQuest. For example, users will be able to create a user story within VersionOne from an email or link a VersionOne story with a dependent defect in Bugzilla."

The VersionOne Mylyn Connector will be bundled with Tasktop Pro for $99, and a free trial will be available from (http://tasktop.com) in March 2010. Eclipse Galileo (3.5) users also will be able to install it directly from Mylyn's Connector Discovery in Eclipse. For more information and to sign up to be notified of the release, visit http://tasktop.com/connectors/versionone

New integration connects Mingle project management tool with the Eclipse IDE
for improved developer productivity and project status visibility

VANCOUVER, Dec. 9, 2009 - Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and the leading provider of task management for application lifecycle management (ALM), and ThoughtWorks Studios (www.thoughtworks-studios.com) today announced the availability of the ThoughtWorks Studios Mingle® Mylyn Connector. The new offering integrates development activities performed in the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE) with project management in the new Mingle 3.0. Together, the products help developers easily and accurately track progress while, simultaneously, providing accurate and up-to-date project status visibility for team leads.

"To gain the greatest value from Agile project management tools organizations must accurately track development activity and progress as close to real-time as possible," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "The Tasktop integration with Mingle makes it effortless for developers to collaborate, update project status, and automatically track time within the Eclipse IDE, bridging the gap between the development and project management layers of the Agile ALM stack."

The Mingle Mylyn Connector enables Mingle development teams to take advantage of Mylyn's innovative task-focused productivity technology that shows only the most relevant source code for a given task. This technology helps reduce information overload for large-scale development projects and enables developers to multitask and recover from interruptions with a single click. With the connector, ThoughtWorks Studios' customers will further improve their productivity by eliminating the need to toggle between their browser, email and IDE to gather information necessary to complete application development tasks. Tasktop and ThoughtWorks Studios are planning to release Mylyn connectors for Twist and Cruise during Q1 of 2010.

Mingle is the project management component of ThoughtWorks Studios' Adaptive ALMTM, a complete development solution that includes Twist® (test automation) and Cruise® (release management). Major features available in the new Mingle 3.0 include an entirely new communications platform called "MurmursTM." Murmurs captures conversations that would otherwise have been lost through unstructured communications - such as IM chats, emails, etc. - and instantly associates team conversations with Mingle project artifacts. Mingle 3.0 also includes new program-level management features that provide cross-project visibility, traceability and extended reporting capabilities. In addition, it provides enhanced reporting capabilities, support for software configuration management (SCM) through Subversion® 1.6.5 and API updates that provide better access to information within Mingle for integration with external applications or systems.

"We are extremely excited to offer our customers a new level of integration between task-level activities and our Mingle project management tool," said Cyndi Mitchell, managing director for ThoughtWorks Studios. "In addition, the integration of our new Murmurs social networking feature available in Mingle 3.0 represents a new level of communication and collaboration within the Eclipse IDE."

The ThoughtWorks Studios Mingle Mylyn Connector is available now and included in Tasktop Pro for $99. A free Tasktop Pro trial is available from http://tasktop.com/download. Eclipse Galileo (3.5) users also will be able to install it directly from Mylyn's Connector Discovery in Eclipse.
