FreeWave’s wireless data radios provide joint OEM solutions for added value and seamless integration for effective distribution automation in the Smart Grid
HOUSTON, Texas, ABB AUTOMATION & POWER WORLD, (Booth #55), April 23, 2012 — FreeWave Technologies, (http://www.freewave.com), manufacturer of the most reliable, high-performance spread spectrum and licensed radios for critical data transmission, will showcase its portfolio of wireless data radio solutions for Smart Grid applications, including its FGR2-PE, FGR2-IO-IOE, HTPlus and I/O Expansion modules, at this year’s ABB Automation and Power World conference (http://www.abb.com/A&Pworld).
FreeWave will be demonstrating its FGR2 Series radios, along with its versatile HTPlus and I/O Expansion modules in the conference’s Technology and Solutions Center (Booth #55 & #56). FreeWave’s FGR2 Series of wireless radios offer superior noise filtering and interference handling, are capable of accurately transmitting data up to 60 miles, and offer the lowest power consumption in the industry. The HTPlus is a leap forward for customers who need an industrial grade, high-speed Ethernet radio that operates in harsh environments and noisy RF conditions. FreeWave’s I/O Expansion modules are ideal for condition-based monitoring applications and enable real time automated monitoring and control of smart grid assets, such as circuit breakers and power transformers.
“The concept of automation (and its corresponding technologies) is a primary driver of competitiveness for all types of industrial organizations, but increasingly it is imperative for energy and utility companies to continue to improve upon these efforts for the cost-effective and reliable delivery of power,” explained Curt Goldman, market manager of utilities at FreeWave Technologies. “Our wireless data radios are proven to deliver critical data transmission for distribution automation applications in the Smart Grid and act as the glue that both holds and connects various distribution systems of the smart grid together.”
In addition, Goldman also will be presenting “Wireless Communications for Distribution Automation” as part of the conference’s technical program. During his presentation, Goldman will review how FreeWave Technologies’ radio transceivers are used to effectively deploy distribution automation in the Smart Grid without any hardwiring in the infrastructure.
Goldman’s talk will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. as part of the conference proceedings. A copy of Goldman’s presentation and any other information about FreeWave’s wireless communication solutions can be obtained by contacting Catapult PR-IR at 303-581-7760.
