OVUM TECHNOLOGY AUDIT HIGHLIGHTS GORILLA LOGIC’S FONEMONKEY OPEN SOURCE AUTOMATED TESTING TOOL

Research reveals that FoneMonkey stands out in a market where options for Apple iOS automated functional testing are limited

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct 27, 2011 – Gorilla Logic, (www.gorillalogic.com), a leader in enterprise application development services and creators of open source test tools for mobile and rich Internet applications, today announced the availability of new independent research from Ovum Technology (www.ovum.com), an objective analyst firm that enables organizations to make better business and technology decisions. The report written by principal analyst, Michael Azoff emphasizes, “For any mobile application developers targeting Apple iOS and the Flash platform, FoneMonkey should be considered for testing and QA purposes.”

Gorilla Logic’s passion for delivering quality software applications for enterprise customers led to the creation of FoneMonkey. It is the only test tool for iOS that records actions with the iPhone or iPad while in use and plays them back as a test script at any time. It enables the interactive creation, editing and playback of automation scripts that exercise an application’s user interface. Using FoneMonkey, developers and quality assurance team members can create suites of tests that automate and perform user operation sequences, and then verify results. FoneMonkey supports development as well as QA testing, and tests can easily be incorporated into continuous integration environments.
Ovum’s key findings on FoneMonkey 5.0 and FlexMonkey 5.0 include:

• Streamlined automated functional testing for Adobe Flex and Apple iOS applications, with record and playback capabilities for all user interactions.

• Can run tests in an automated, CI testing environment, especially suitable for Agile processes.

• Generates native code for complete test customization and extensibility.

“FoneMonkey is the only automated record/playback UI testing tool available for the iOS platform,” said Stu Stern, president and CEO of Gorilla Logic and co-creator of FoneMonkey. “We are pleased that Ovum’s Technology Audit echoes our organization’s view of the Enterprise Application Development market.”

GORILLA LOGIC NAMED A WINNER IN FLEX TESTING CATEGORY AT THIRD ANNUAL ATI AUTOMATION HONORS

FlexMonkey automated testing tool receives awards at ATI ceremony

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 25 , 2011 – Gorilla Logic, (www.gorillalogic.com), a leader in enterprise application development services and creators of open source test tools for mobile and rich Internet applications, today announced FlexMonkey (http://www.gorillalogic.com/ flexmonkey) was a winner in the Flex Testing category in the third annual Automated Testing Institute’s (ATI) Automation Honors, the industry’s original set of awards dedicated to software test automation. In an effort to recognize excellence in the discipline of test automation, the awards rely on industry practitioners to identify which tools are the best, which have the most significant upgrades and/or which are setting the trends that will help take software test automation to the next level in the coming year.

“We are excited to receive recognition by the Automated Testing Institute for our commitment to delivering the most versatile and complete testing solutions for QA engineers and developers who desire to improve the quality of their applications, said Stu Stern, CEO and co-founder of Gorilla Logic. “The latest release of FlexMonkey provides the FLEX open source functional testing community with improved quality and delivers increased ROI by reducing manual testing.”
FlexMonkey allows developers and testers of RIA to record, playback and verify real-world user interactions. FlexMonkey also generates ActionScript test scripts that teams can group into test suites that can easily be used within a continuous integration environment. Gorilla Logic created FlexMonkey in 2008, and continues to contribute to the Flex ecosystem with ongoing enhancements and dedicated support to its thousands of community members.

Winners were announced at this year’s live awards ceremony held at the Verify/ATI 2011. In addition, winners and finalist will be highlighted in a special November issue of Automated Software Testing Magazine (http://www.astmagazine.automatedtestinginstitute.com).

GORILLA LOGIC TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES FOR AUTOMATED FUNCTIONAL TESTING AT 360 FLEX CONFERENCE

GORILLA LOGIC TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES FOR AUTOMATED FUNCTIONAL TESTING AT 360 FLEX CONFERENCE

Company president to reveal how software developers can gain maximum benefits with minimum number of automated tests

WHO: Stu Stern
Gorilla Logic

President and CEO
(http://www.gorillalogic.com)

Stu Stern is a Founder and CEO of Gorilla Logic, Inc., a leader in enterprise application development services and creators of open source test tools for mobile and rich Internet applications. Stern is the creator of Gorilla Logic’s category-leading open-source interactive testing tools: FoneMonkey, FlexMonkey, and FlexMonkium. Prior to founding Gorilla Logic, Stern was vice president of worldwide consulting services at Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), where he spoke frequently about Java and Internet application architecture at conferences around the globe. Prior to Sun, Stern was vice president of Equity Trading Systems at PaineWebber (now UBS).

WHAT:          Automating Functional Testing

Automated functional testing is crucial to the development of all but the most trivial Rich Internet Applications (RIA). A core suite of automated functional tests provides a solid foundation for rapidly iterating product releases by ensuring the introduction of each new feature doesn’t inadvertently break pre-existing functionality.

In this session, participants will explore how to use FlexMonkey – a free and open source tool that automates functional testing of Flex and RIA applications – to record, edit, playback and verify application functionality. Attendees also will see how FlexMonkey generates ready-to run ActionScript-based test scripts that can be extended to handle complex application usage scenarios. The session will also look at how FlexMonkey test suites can be run using FlexUnit, and how FoneMonkey (http://www.gorillalogic.com/fonemonkey) can be run with continuous integration tools. The session will conclude with a discussion of best practices for test automation that let developers get the maximum benefit from creating the minimum number of automated tests.
