FREEWAVE TECHNOLOGIES’ DAN STEELE TO SPEAK ON INTEGRATED HYBRID RADIO COMMUNICATIONS AT USCID’S IRRIGATION CONFERENCE

WHO: Daniel G. Steele
 Business Development Executive
 FreeWave Technologies, Inc.

Daniel G. Steele is a business development executive at FreeWave Technologies, Inc. Steele has more than 25 years experience selling SCADA communication networks for the water and wastewater, oil and gas, electric utilities, railroad, traffic, government and process control instrumentation markets. Some of Steele’s previous experience includes working as a system integrator; district manager for Automation-X, as a branch manager for Water Works Equipment; as a regional sales manager for Rockwell Automation; as a regional area manager for Microwave Data Systems (GEMDS); and, as a senior vice president of sales for Bluewave Antenna Systems.

Founded in 1993, FreeWave Technologies is a world leader in the innovative design/manufacture of license-free spread spectrum, licensed band radios and wireless data solutions that are trusted for mission critical applications around the world (www.freewave.com).

WHAT: Concurrent Session 4A – SCADA IMPLEMENTATION II “Integrated Hybrid Radio Communication Networks”

If you are collecting data from multiple locations and delivering it to offices over a widespread area, no one system will be able to accomplish this. However, by combining technologies, the user can create a seamless data stream from several locations and share data over a LAN or WAN with multiple users. The end result is more effective and efficient management of their network, increased reliability through reduced downtime – all at a much more affordable price.

This presentation will provide attendees with specific ways they can set up and deploy hybrid networks to drive maintenance/monthly costs down – directly impacting their bottom line; decreasing polling cycle times; reducing the time needed to identify and rectify problems within the network; and, eliminating system “pinch points” – or single points of failure.

Plenary Session 2 – Canal Operations and Management Panel

Steele will moderate three topics of discussion in this panel group. Two groups of professionals from Texas A&M University, College Station Texas, will help lead discussions regarding “Flow Calibration of the Bryan Canal Radial Gate at the United Irrigation District” and the “Synthetic Canal Lining Evaluation Project.” Finally, a member of the Agricultural Research Service from Maricopa, AZ will help shed light on “Considering Canal Pool Resonance in Controller Design.”

WHERE: Hilton Hotel
 425 West Prospect Road
 Fort Collins, CO 80526

WHEN: Wednesday, September 29 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Plenary Session 2 – Canal Operations and Management Panel:

WHAT: ”Creating the Ideal Communication Network”

Numerous communication technologies have been introduced into the irrigation and water management market over the years all claiming to be the best and most reliable communication tool. How do you decide what is truly best for your situation? For your organization’s future expansion?  For the changing needs of your organization? Can you count on your technology partner to support its technology moving forward?

This presentation focuses on the details behind creating the ideal communication network using a “hybrid” approach to monitoring, controlling and pushing network capability to the extreme. You’ll learn (conceptually) how to create an irrigation and water management network that allows you the most flexible and reliable system to meet your specific requirements.

WHAT: ”Irrigation and Water Delivery Improvements Using Wireless Communication Technology”

The nation’s farms and irrigation districts are losing access to water because the world’s population is booming and cities are expanding.  At the same time, the growing need for food requires that we increase our crop yields to meet the ever-increasing demands of the world’s population. Today, there are numerous technologies at our fingertips that can assist in meeting future performance expectations.  One simple word that describes these technologies is “automation.”  The same automation that has created information superhighways and reduced cost and higher productivity in producing fuels also can be used within the irrigation industry. Examples are wireless communication, automated controls and automated sensors. This presentation will explain how modifications using wireless technologies can save enormous amounts of water, improve efficiencies within systems and decrease the total amount of water being used in irrigation systems.
