Human lives are at risk, so, we need to ensure we provide the most reliable and proven solution possible.”

The next three days of the training seminar are focused on FreeWave’s Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) data radio offerings, including its 900 MHz Ethernet radio products, used widely in several applications across Latin America. Attendees will be trained on various topics and technologies, including network topologies, antenna systems and accessories, dispersion studies, basic radio configuration skills, basic network designs, telemetry systems maintenance, overview of Ethernet and TCP/IP, FreeWave’s popular ToolSuite software platform, and much more. “Organizations count on our radios for reliable data communications and rely on our support for operational success,” continued Rosado. “We know the determination and commitment from our resellers will make these training sessions a success and will translate into continued efficiencies and knowledge for our joint customers moving forward.”

The final day of the event will shift the focus onto energy utilities and synchronization within the Smart Grid, an emerging market both FreeWave and Monitron are currently penetrating together.

“We are proud to partner with a leading trustworthy data communication solutions provider like FreeWave,” said César Morquecho, Engineer Manager of Monitron. “Together, we will continue to work with FreeWave and our customers to improve our offerings that are the preferred choice for Latin American utilities and volcanic and seismic monitoring companies.”

Complete event details can be found on Monitron’s website (http://www.monitron.mx).

FREEWAVE TECHNOLOGIES EXPERT TO DISCUSS WIRELESS 101 AT CLAGTEE CONFERENCE IN BRAZIL

WHO:  Elroy Rosado
Business Development Manager, Latin America
FreeWave Technologies
(www.freewave.com)

Rosado manages business development efforts for Latin American markets at FreeWave Technologies. He has more than 10 years of senior leadership and management experience in manufacturing environments growing sales, developing distribution channels and managing business development efforts for manufacturers of high-technology-engineered products.

WHAT: Wireless 101: From Remote Site to Desktop with Wireless Connectivity

Fifteen years ago, even the more advanced automation systems seldom supported telemetry. Systems that did employ telemetry offered very slow data throughput and rarely could provide coverage to every automated location, limiting their usefulness. Today, it’s common to have 100 percent communication to all field locations, and to experience data throughput from the field of 19.2 or even 38.4 K baud. High-speed backbone telemetry is now available in the megabits range. Wireless instrumentation is the latest telemetry trend, supporting analog and digital signals without the constraints of a wired connection. Now, it can be used to communicate to and from pressure or temperature transducers, to control valves remotely, to signal the arrival of switch closures, or to report status changes or contact closures. This presentation will explore all of the various options available to companies in selecting their wireless network solutions and offer key considerations when evaluating what solution works best for their environment and application.

WHAT: Implementing Remote Wireless Monitoring of Pipeline Integrity and Cathodic Protection

Today, multi-purpose, built-for-purpose, all-in-one, pipeline integrity automation, wireless, data communication radios are available that monitor and report all cathodic protection rectifier operations, automate rectifier interruption, monitor rectifier operational status, monitor and report pipe-to-soil potential, pipeline pressure and pipeline pigging operations. These new cathodic protection monitoring radios wire directly to field assets and feed critical pipeline information into existing company data systems without going outside the company’s firewall security protection. This presentation will discuss how to implement remote wireless new cathodic protection monitoring radios that are relatively low-cost, easy-to-install, have no licensing fees and no monthly, re-occurring fees.

WHAT: Reduce Operational Costs and Extend the Life of Pipeline Infrastructure by Automating Remote Cathodic Protection Systems

Energy and pipeline companies wrestle to control operating costs largely affected by new government regulations, aging buried metal assets, rising steel prices, expanding pipeline operations, new interference points, HCA encroachment, restrictive land use policies, heightened network security and an aging, soon-to-retire work force. With operating costs on the rise, and seemingly out of control, many CP and operations professionals look to past best practices in cost containment through automation. Many companies achieve solid business results through deployment of telemetry and SCADA automation of remote assets and now hope to expand this success to further optimize operations by automating remote cathodic protection systems. This presentation will provide examples of how new remote cathodic protection systems are helping energy and pipeline companies address the growing issue of the aging pipeline infrastructure and reduce their costs while optimizing their operations.
