DESPITE TOUGH ECONOMY, FREEWAVE TECHNOLOGIES SHINES
Company’s dedication to providing top-notch customer service results in pay out of 31st consecutive bonus to its employees
BOULDER, Colo., August 2, 2010 – FreeWave Technologies, (http://www.freewave.com), manufacturer of the most reliable, high-performance spread spectrum and licensed radios for critical data transmission, today announced that its ongoing commitment to excellent customer service has resulted in continued growth and success for the company despite a tough economy. And, once again, FreeWave has shared its success with the 31st consecutive bonus payout to its employees. Two times a year, the company rewards its employees with a bonus, which it consistently has paid since FreeWave hired its first employee in 1995. The bonus is based on profitability, and is distributed in the form of both cash and contributions to employee-managed pension plans.
“We focus 110 percent on serving our customers every single day,” explained Ken Granader, vice president of sales and company spokesperson at FreeWave. “We continue to bolster that support by adding new positions and retaining key employees to ensure we are keeping pace with our customers as their needs grow and evolve.”
While news of continued layoffs, downsizing and reductions continue to make the news, FreeWave has steadily increased its investment in its future. The company has expanded into the fast-growing renewable energy industry, is further penetrating existing domestic markets, such as oil and gas, military, agriculture, and water / wastewater, and also is expanding into new international ones as well. In addition, as Granader says, the company has been adding new positions and staff to help continue building upon its stellar reputation as a provider of excellent customer service.
As evidence of the reliability of its products, FreeWave’s family of military radios has surpassed more than 800,000 flight hours logged through its multiple OEM partners – the majority of which has been in support of combat missions for the U.S. Armed Services.
“We believe in controlling our own destiny,” explained Granader. “Building, delivering and supporting the best products in the industry with a relentless pursuit for 100 percent customer satisfaction is the mantra we all share. It’s our passion for excellence, and our ability to execute on that passion, that sets us apart.”

Licensed radio for North America offers greater distance, lower power consumption so customers can acquire critical data in difficult terrain
Boulder, Colo., June 29, 2009 – FreeWave Technologies, (http://www.freewave.com), manufacturer of the most reliable, high-performance spread spectrum and licensed radios for critical data transmission, today announced the availability of the LRS455. The newest licensed radio from FreeWave offers the lowest power consumption, transmission range and receiver sensitivity available in the market. Due to superior RF propagation characteristics (430-470 MHz at 2 watts), the LRS455 is ideal for rugged and heavily treed terrain applications in oil and gas, water/wastewater, electric and municipality markets.
“Customers increasingly need to access critical data from difficult terrains, and the board level and enclosed LRS455 radios provide outstanding performance and versatility to meet this growing demand,” said Ken Granader, vice president of sales at FreeWave. “As always, this latest offering blends the highest level of field performance with the lowest power consumption to help customers incorporate wireless communications into a wider variety of applications.”
The LRS455 complements FreeWave’s industry leading licensed radios, the LRS-760 and LRS-140. It offers a faster data rate and more noise immunity than competitors’ offerings and is perfectly suited for long-distance SCADA applications located within rough terrain or heavy tree coverage. The propagation characteristics at 430-470 MHz at 2 watts are significantly better than higher frequencies at 1 watt, making the LRS455 radio ideal for areas with heavy interference. Field tests also show that the LRS455 performs at a four- to five-times greater range than competitive offerings.
The LRS455 provides advanced system and network management capabilities through the recently introduced FreeWave Tool Suite, an integrated software platform for all aspects of radio and network configuration and diagnostics.
Some of the key technical specs of the LRS455 include:
• High Noise Immunity – Superior performance in noise-congested environments.
The LRS455 is available for immediate shipment and is available in board level or enclosed formats. Additional information, including detailed specifications, is available online at http://www.freewave.com/LRS455 or by contacting the company at 800-548-5616.

New program allows FreeWave’s channel partners to receive attractive discounts for its newest wireless radio, the FGR2-IOS, for resale to end users
BOULDER, Colo. – Sept. 4, 2008 — FreeWave Technologies, the largest independent provider of high performance spread spectrum and licensed radio products and services, today announced it has launched a new 12-pack reseller program that provides significant discounts to resellers of its newly introduced FGR2-IOS 900 MHz IO radio. Preliminary response to the program already has been strong, according to company officials.
Under the terms of the program, select resellers of FreeWave’s wireless spread spectrum radios can purchase its FGR2-IOS radios (both board level and enclosed) at a reduced price in packaged quantities of 12. Interested channel partners can still sign up for the last 2008 reseller certification training and take advantage of the premium program option – subject to class availability (contact FreeWave at the phone number below for more information or to sign up).
The FGR2-IOS (30VIO) radio provides outstanding performance and versatility in wireless transmission of process-control signals. The FGR2-IOS provides remote control and monitoring of tanks, lifting stations, pumps, flow meters, fluid levels, water sources, temperatures and pressures typical of the water/wastewater and oil and gas industries.
Eliminating the need for signal wire connections at the master and thereby greatly reducing costs, the FGR2-IOS delivers data from remote analog and digital devices over a wireless link to a remote terminal unit (RTU) or programmable logic controller (PLC).
“We are pleased to offer this special program to our channel partners,” said Robert Clark, IO Systems Product Manager at FreeWave. “The market is hungry for this type of solution and this special pricing makes it even more attractive and easy for resellers to add it to their arsenal of product offerings to end users.”
Clark said that the program applies to both FreeWave’s FGR2-IOS board level and enclosed radio versions.
In addition, he says that FreeWave will provide training, technical support and marketing materials for all resellers who participate in the program.
The FGR2-IOS 12-pack program runs until December18. Program pricing is specific to new orders only.

FGR2-IOS marks first of new family of products and configurations
BOULDER, Colo. – July 30, 2008 — FreeWave Technologies, the largest independent provider of high performance spread spectrum and licensed radio products and services, today announced the final release of its FGR2-IOS wireless spread spectrum radio in multiple configurations. The FGR2-IOS radio and related IO system components complement FreeWave’s existing line of IO radios (FGRIO-M, FGRIO-S).
FreeWave’s FGR2-IOS (30VIO) radio provides outstanding performance and versatility in wireless transmission of process-control signals. The FRG2-IOS provides long range, remote control and monitoring of tanks, lifting stations, pumps, flow meters, fluid levels, water sources, temperatures and pressures typical of the water/wastewater and oil and gas industries.
Eliminating the need for signal wire connections at the master and thereby greatly reducing costs, the FGR2-IOS delivers data from remote analog and digital devices over a wireless link to a remote terminal unit (RTU) or programmable logic controller (PLC).
The FGR2-IOS radio with embedded IO functions is available either as a board level device or in an enclosure. Both versions operate in one of two modes: Modbus and Wire Replacement. In Modbus mode, the FGR2-IOS can be directly connected as an IO peripheral to a SCADA network. For wire replacement (wireless signal replication), the FGR2-IOS can operate as a slave linked to an FGRIO-M (master) radio. The enclosed version also includes switchable and protected internal resistors for convenience when using 4-20mA sensors.
Wireless IO Applications
FreeWave IO radios can be used in a broad range of industrial applications. Some applications served today include:
