The most popular Scrum management tool continues to be guided
by user input from the Danube Community Portal

BELLEVUE, Wash., Feb. 1, 2010-Danube Technologies, Inc., (www.danube.com) the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced the latest release of its ScrumWorks® Pro product. ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 includes improvements to the tool's Sprint Burndown Chart, Team Member Load Report and filtering with Themes. The release, which is the third upgrade since the enterprise-ready ScrumWorks Pro 4 was launched in Aug, 2009, represents Danube's commitment to responding quickly to customer feedback through the Danube Community Portal (http://community.danube.com).

"The level of participation among our users on the Danube Community Portal has been staggering," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and CEO of Danube. "Hearing from our user-base in such a direct way has allowed us to focus on improvements that generate immediate value for our users as well as accelerate the rate at which we deliver upgrades. In my mind, this is an illustration of what can happen when the makers of a tool and its community of users can unite around a common goal-improving project and program management with Scrum."

New features in ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 include:

Upgraded Sprint Burndown Chart. ScrumWorks Pro's Sprint Burndown Chart receives a major upgrade with the addition of a second line: tasks done/not done. This allows teams that do not use task-level estimation to nevertheless "burn down" tasks in Sprints.

Tasks No Longer Require Estimates. To help support task burndown in the Sprint Burndown Chart, tasks no longer require estimates.

Enhanced Team Member Load Report. This sprint-level report now displays the total task hours yet to be allocated to team members. This helps teams better visualize the total unallocated capacity in the sprint at any time.

Sub-Total for Selected Product Backlog Items and Tasks. Now users can select a sub-set of the product backlog or sprint from the Product window and receive an instant sub-total of the number of PBIs/Tasks and their corresponding effort estimates in the new status bar result in no more manual math.

Editor Enhancements. The work item editor now includes the item's key for easier identification.

Expanded Theme Filtering. When filtering using Themes, users now have the option to "exclude" selected Themes from filtered or highlighted results.

Fixes. Several issues have been resolved, including a security issue related to Active Directory installations configured to accept empty passwords, Java Web Start caching, and more.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.3 is available now and can be purchased directly from Danube. Pricing is offered through an on-site, per-seat subscription license that starts at $289-per-user, per-year, or less than $25 per-user, per-month, as well as an on-site, per-seat fully paid license for $500. For more information on ScrumWorks Pro, visit www.danube.com/scrumworks/pro.

Based on community feedback, leading conference on Agile development to offer a tighter agenda to bring greater focus to event

PORTLAND Jan. 19, 2010 - The Agile Alliance, (www.agilealliance.org) a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the advancement of Agile software development principles and practices, today announced the "call for speakers" for Agile 2010 is now open. Set for Aug. 9 - 13 in Nashville, (http://agile2010.agilealliance.org). Agile 2010 is the leading international conference on Agile methods in software development, bringing together many disciplines in the fields of information systems and software development to foster the exchange of fresh ideas and best practices.

"This year's conference will examine the latest theory, practical applications and implications of Agile methods," said Jim Newkirk, Agile 2010 conference chair. "The Agile approach focuses on delivering business value early in the project lifetime and being able to incorporate emergent requirements. The Agile conference is not about a single methodology or approach, but rather provides a forum for the exchange of information regarding all Agile development technologies."

The Agile 2010 submission process will be somewhat different from past years. In previous years submissions were submitted to individual stages for consideration. This year, interested presenters will submit abstracts that address one of the broad conference themes - Business, Technical, and Leadership & Organization. Once submitted, the program committee will identify and forward abstracts to the most appropriate stage for consideration.

In addition, to help ensure the conference offers sessions that vary in experience level and address topics of interest shared by past attendees, the program committee will invite specific sessions. These 180 minute sessions will be presented on the first day of the conference and will be selected based on the following criteria (in priority order):
1. The session content fills a specific hole in the program, either from a pure content perspective or from an experience level.
2. The session provides a fresh perspective on a particular topic.
3. The presenter scored in the top 20% with regard to feedback at last year's conference.

"The changes we have made to the speaking submission process aims to build on the success of past conferences and ensure that all members of the Agile community - regardless of experience level - have focused sessions to attend," said Newkirk. "I invite anyone interested in speaking at this year's conference to visit our main Web site and also review a more detailed outline of this year's process on the Agile 2010 blog at (http://agile2010.wordpress.com/)."
The submission system in open now and will remain open until Feb. 19, 2010. For more information or to submit a presentation please visit: http://agile2010.agilealliance.org/index.html.

Leader in Scrum project and program management tools adds print capability,
theme filtering, and reporting improvements

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 2, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc., the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced new reporting, theme filtering, printing, and resource allocation reporting to its ScrumWorks® Pro product. The result of user input from Danube's Community Portal at (http://community.danube.com/), the new features build on the enterprise capabilities launched in ScrumWorks 4 and demonstrate Danube's commitment to listening and responding quickly to customer feedback to advance Scrum practices across large-scale deployments.

"These latest enhancement to ScrumWorks Pro are the result of the ScrumWorks community's drive to improve Scrum in the enterprise," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and CEO of Danube. "There's no better source for suggested new features than the more than 125,000 ScrumWorks users around the globe. We value their input and are pleased to respond quickly with feature enhancements that will improve their productivity."
New features of ScrumWorks Pro 4.2 include:

Team Member Allocation Report. This report gives management a central view of who is working on what. Organized by weekly or monthly workloads, the report identifies individuals that are over-allocated as well as those that maybe under-utilized and available to help with under-staffed projects.

Printing Enhancements: The "print-to-cards" feature now displays full, unabridged titles and allows for dynamic font re-sizing. "Print-to-cards" also automatically prioritizes the title and description fields over less important fields, cropping those fields if necessary.

Combined Theme Filtering: "Themes" are the primary mechanism in ScrumWorks Pro for categorizing Backlog Items by associating a specific keyword to a specific item or group of items. Now, ScrumWorks Pro provides users with additional flexibility in filtering requirements by Themes as well as Theme-based reports.

Improved Product Backlog Item Reporting: A complete re-design of the Product Backlog Item module for Web reports provides an improved user experience and stronger reporting capability with the addition of a "Status" filter to already existing "Release" and "Themes" filter options.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.2 is available now and can be purchased directly from Danube. Pricing is offered through an on-site, per-seat subscription license that starts at $289-per-user, per-year, or less than $25 per-user, per-month, as well as an on-site, per-seat fully paid license for $500. (www.danube.com)

Rawsthorne has been developing software for more than 25 years and is an accomplished manager, mentor, coach, trainer, consultant, and architect. The projects he has worked on range from e-commerce, to databases, military avionics and Air Traffic Control. He is a Certified Scrum Trainer for Danube Technologies, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development. Rawsthorne holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Illinois.

What: Release Planning: A Strategy for Success
One of the primary responsibilities of the Product Owner and project teams is release planning. Stakeholders want, need, and deserve to know what they will be getting-and when. How do you do this in an agile environment? Although many find it tempting to create a release plan as a series of sprint plans, this is a mistake. It violates the lean principle of "minimal inventory" and will be wrong-the same is true with traditional project planning. In this half-day tutorial, Dan Rawsthorne presents "rules of thumb" for developing a release strategy and spending game plan. Participants will practice using these rules during a guided exercise, walk through an example release, and learn how to monitor and measure the release plan.

Storyotypes: The Patterns within the Stories
In this informative presentation, Rawsthorne will explore why and how similar stories appear over and over again as organizations develop systems. According to Rawsthorne, stories-small chunks of work that make up a backlog and provide demonstrable value to the project-can be categorized by purpose including: production, analysis, cleanup, infrastructure/environment, business support, or other. Within each of these categories are different "storyotypes" - patterns that define the commonalities among the stories themselves. Rawsthorne will define and describe some of the most prevalent storyotypes, explaining why they are useful, and demonstrates the concept with examples. Rawsthorne will discuss how by employing storyotypes in developing stories, teams will produce more consistent, higher quality requirements that are easier to work with.

When: Release Planning: A Strategy for Success
Mon., November 9
1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST

Storyotypes: The Patterns within the Stories
Thurs., November 12
12:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. EST

Where: Rosen Shingle Creek
9939 Universal Boulevard
Orlando, FL 32819

To register, visit: (https://www.sqe.com/agiledevpractices/Register/SelectConference.aspx)

Contact: For more information on this presentation or to set up an interview with Dr. Rawsthorne, please contact Christie Denniston at Catapult PR-IR (303) 581-7760, ext. 13 or cdenniston@catapultpr-ir.com

danube agile scrum release planning

New features bolster program management with Scrum, helping users prioritize and better allocate resource 'budgets' when working in Epics

BELLEVUE, Wash., October 12, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc., the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum project management framework, today announced ScrumWorks® Pro 4.1, a new version of the only enterprise-grade tool designed exclusively to manage Scrum. New features of ScrumWorks Pro provide the ability to easily prioritize requirements at the Epic level, set and establish budgets for Epics, and improve Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for broader integration capabilities.

"Our experience helping enterprise customers manage large, complex development efforts has shown us an urgent need for tools that can help organizations of this size coordinate multiple development groups," said Victor Szalvay, Danube CTO and product owner of ScrumWorks Pro. "The latest release of ScrumWorks Pro provides capabilities that allow program managers not only to prioritize Epics, but also assign and track associated budgets. As always, these feature additions were driven by the request of our most successful enterprise customers."
New features of ScrumWorks Pro:

Prioritization of Epics: ScrumWorks Pro allows product owners to manage and prioritize Epics (large Scrum user stories with unknown requirements or effort estimates, which often span multiple products) with the same drag-and-drop ease of standard user stories. For the largest enterprises, ScrumWorks Pro 4.1 provides the capability to manage and prioritize multiple Epics..

Budgets for Epics: Because Epics have been historically difficult to estimate, ScrumWorks Pro now allows teams to establish resource guidelines, set milestones for each release, place parameters around resource usage and set automated alerts when pre-determined thresholds are close to being exceeded. These new "budgeting" features provide increased visibility into the effort put forth to
complete an Epic and soft limits on the amount of work budgeted for a particular milestone.

API Enhancements: Danube continues to strengthen its API for Epics, programs, themes and other user-requested enhancements.

Integration Updates: ScrumWorks 4.1 includes the latest integrations for JIRA 4.0 and Bugzilla 3.4.2.

Pricing and Availability
ScrumWorks Pro 4.1 is currently available and can be purchased directly from Danube.

Agile 2009 attendees can view demo of recently launched enterprise Scrum tool

BELLEVUE, Wash., August 20, 2009-Danube Technologies, Inc. (www.danube.com), the leader in project management tools and training for the Scrum methodology, will unveil its new ScrumWorks Pro 4 project management tool at next week's Agile 2009 conference in Chicago. Launched on August 3, ScrumWorks Pro 4 has received widespread industry recognition and customer support due to the product's unique ability to allow large development organizations to scale Scrum deployments across the enterprise. Agile 2009 attendees can view a live demo of the product at Danube's booth #10.

"Agile 2009 is the premier event for the entire agile community and ScrumWorks Pro 4 represents an additional proof point on the continued maturity of Scrum practices in the enterprise," said Laszlo Szalvay, co-founder and CEO at Danube. "We are excited to officially introduce ScrumWorks 4 directly to the agile community in Chicago, and look forward to gaining continued feedback from hands-on practitioners that will help us continuously improve our products."

As Scrum continues to gain popularity among developers and managers alike, the framework which was originally conceived for use with small, co-located teams is being scaled to accommodate Scrum-of-Scrum installations of thousands of users. However, as many large organizations have attempted to translate the benefits of small team Scrum to enterprise-level installations, the available Scrum and agile tools lacked functionality powerful enough to accurately model such complex development.

ScrumWorks Pro 4 addresses the needs of larger development organizations by providing an intuitive way to track cross-product development at the program level. Utilizing "Themes," keyword tags for convenient sorting and filtering, users can assign an "Epics" theme to all the constituent products in a program. This allows them to roll up data into a high-level program view, providing a realistic assessment of progress and enabling informed release forecasting.

Rawsthorne to provide practical approaches to understanding agile metrics and team dynamics through two scheduled presentations

Who: Dan Rawsthorne
Certified Scrum Trainer and Senior Consultant
Danube Technologies, Inc.

What: Panel Discussion: Product Owner or Product Manager or Both?
Rawsthorne will participate on this panel, discussing the complexities of the Product Owner role in Scrum.

Description: Experienced product managers working with agile product teams for the first time are stuck between old methods and new ones. Developers are requesting new artifacts, advocating new meetings, and defining new roles. Old processes and artifacts that seemed to be working are not valued by agile teams. While developers are learning how to deliver working code faster, without agile product management the team might be building the wrong things. Agile product managers and product owners face issues focusing on the business, technical, marketing, and sales roles required for effective agile teams.

Fixed Price, Fixed Scope Contracting with Scrum
Rawsthorne will present a brief 30-minute talk on fixed price and fixed scope contracting.

Description: One of the most pervasive myths about agility is that it cannot be applied to fixed price and fixed scope projects. However, nothing could be further from the truth; agility is essential to navigating the craziness of a project, while working towards a budget. In this talk, Rawsthorne will discuss organizational issues, how to estimate a bid, what the project (release) plan could look like, and provide examples of what to track and measure.

Agile Metrics
Rawsthorne will present a talk on agile metrics.

Description: The software development industry has a poor track record with metrics. Many metrics are tangential to development's goal of delivering business value, and are thus ill-regarded by agile developers. However, good metrics are important to management, in order to understand the status and progress of their teams, and to make projections into the future.

In this class, we discuss velocity, burndown graphs, running tested features, EVM metrics (CPI and SPI), and earned business value, including methods for calculation, why they're important, and how they enforce (or fight against) agile values.

When: Panel Discussion: Product Owner or Product Manager or Both?
Mon., August 24
4:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. Central; and at
4:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Central

Fixed Price, Fixed Scope Contracting with Scrum
Tuesday, August 25
1:30 - 2:00 p.m. Central

Agile Metrics
Wed., August 26
11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Central; and at
11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Central

ScrumWorks Pro Connector creates a fully integrated environment for Scrum development

Bellevue, Wash., June 24, 2009 - Danube Technologies, Inc., (http://www.danube.com), the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, and Tasktop Technologies (http://tasktop.com), creators of EclipseTM Mylyn and the task-focused interface, today announced the release of the ScrumWorks® Pro Mylyn Connector.

The connector, available as an extension to Tasktop Pro, allows software developers to access all tasks and stories housed in ScrumWorks Pro from within the Eclipse IDE. With no need to toggle between multiple applications, developers using ScrumWorks for project management will be able to remain focused on a single, all-inclusive IDE. For each ScrumWorks artifact accessed in the IDE, the novel task-focused interface shows only the most relevant source code, reducing information overload when working on large applications and resulting in dramatic and measurable productivity gains.

"Scrum helps teams increase productivity, so it makes sense that ScrumWorks Pro supports both the project management and development tooling needed to realize those benefits," said Victor Szalvay, CTO of Danube and Product Owner of ScrumWorks Pro. "The ScrumWorks Pro Connector for Tasktop Pro provides a rich integration with Eclipse, extending the benefits of ScrumWorks to the developers' IDE."

As Scrum's popularity increases and more organizations look to ScrumWorks Pro for project management, this integration marks dramatic strides in facilitating developer productivity. Historically, developers have lost valuable time flipping between their IDE, browser, and email client to locate source code, development tasks, bug reports and so on. The ScrumWorks Pro Connector for Tasktop Pro will consolidate all relevant task management and collaboration functionality within a single application. The ScrumWorks® Pro Connector takes full advantage of the productivity benefits afforded by task-focused interface technology.

"Developers spend more time looking for information than actually working," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies. "This is compounded by the fact that research shows developers can be interrupted every 11 minutes on average, resulting in a cycle of time wasted manually restoring the context related to the user story, task, or defect they are working on. The task-focused interface eliminates the time spent repeatedly searching for source code by monitoring a developer's activity," Kersten continued. "It also reduces information overload by showing only the code relevant to the task-at-hand. This new connector brings all of Mylyn's benefits to developers using ScrumWorks Pro for project management and collaboration."

Additional functionality provided by Tasktop Pro and the ScrumWorks Connector includes:

Flexible Integration with Desktop Applications. Tasktop Pro integrates popular applications, such as Microsoft Outlook and Gmail, with a developer's task-focused work flow and enabling ScrumWorks stories to be created from email threads.

Convenient Interlinking. By integrating ScrumWorks artifacts with the IDE, the Connector allows users to "bridge" related artifacts. For example, if a user story refers to a portion of code, the developer can create a hyperlink between them for quick recall.

Time tracking. Tasktop automatically tracks time spent for each ScrumWorks task, so developers no longer need to remember what they work on; they can simply generate a report. Developers retain full control to adjust the recorded tasks and times as needed to account for meetings.

Building on the success of last year's conference in Toronto, which was attended by more than 1,500 software professionals, this year's conference in Chicago once again brings some of the biggest names in the agile community together for a week of dialogue and learning.

Danube Certified Scrum Trainer Dr. Dan Rawsthorne, PhD will participate in two presentations at the event:

· "Product Owner or Product Manager or Both?" panel discussion, Monday, 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., in the Crystal C room

· "Agile Metrics," Wednesday, August 26th, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Crystal C room.

"Danube remains committed to spreading software success with Scrum and our third year as a sponsor of the Agile conference is testament to that," said Laszlo Szalvay, president of Danube. Its flagship product, ScrumWorks® Pro, replicates the benefits of small team Scrum for distributed and collocated teams alike, while also containing the power to help enterprise-sized organizations manage the releases of complex projects with multiple constituent parts. In March, ScrumWorks Pro was honored with a JOLT Award in the Project Management category at the Dr. Dobb's 19th annual JOLT Product Excellence Awards. To complement the tool, the ScrumCORE team offers dozens of public Certified Scrum training courses around the globe each year, in addition to many private, on-site coaching engagements.

"Danube has been a valuable contributor to the Agile series in the past," said Phil Brock, executive director of the Agile Alliance. The free download of ScrumWorks Basic is available at http://www.danube.com/scrumworks/basic/download.

"Given the state of the economy, we're not surprised to see a sudden rise in popularity of our free tool," said Laszlo Szalvay, president of Danube Technologies, Inc. "This trend also signals the continued rise in Scrum adoption and how incremental approaches to project management are helping organizations weather tough times. As one of the first free Scrum tools made available to the agile community, ScrumWorks Basic continues to provide value to organizations looking to improve software development practices and the overall efficiency of the business."

It offers role-based project tracking, reporting and requirements traceability for building successful Scrum projects based on best practices. ScrumWorks Basic provides the "basic" functionality needed to run Scrum projects, including project management, drag-and-drop prioritization of work, sprint tracking and management, basic reporting and data accessibility.

Who: Dan Rawsthorne
Senior Consultant
Danube Technologies, Inc.

What: Agile Processes People and Methods

In this presentation, Rawsthorne will explain how a Scrum team is driven by its product owner, who is responsible for maximizing the value of what the team builds. The understanding of the nature of the product owner has changed over the years and has morphed from being the lead stakeholder to a full-fledged member of the team. In this interactive discussion, Rawsthorne will explore the modern approach of looking at the product owner, both as a person and as a role. As a person, the product owner is the team member who is accountable to management for the success of the team. As a role, the product owner has more responsibilities than a single person can typically handle, including: stakeholder management, release planning, driving the team at a sustainable pace, and accepting and releasing the team's product. In this session, Rawsthorne will describe the challenges faced by the product owner and the team.

PORTLAND, OR., Jan. 6, 2009 - The Agile Alliance, (www.agilealliance.org) a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those who explore and apply Agile principles and practices, today announced it is accepting speaking submissions for the Agile 2009 Conference, the industry's leading Agile development event, scheduled for Aug. 24 - 28 in Chicago (http://www.agile2009.org). In its seventh year, the Agile Conference provides independent software vendors, software consultants and in-house corporate development teams with the knowledge and shared experiences that lead to successful Agile programs.

Conference organizers welcome submissions targeted at audiences of all experience levels (beginners, intermediate, advanced). Interested individuals are encouraged to submit ideas and proposals for sessions via an online submission system at http://agile2009.agilealliance.org/welcome. All proposals will be made available for review by the Agile community, enabling presenters to receive feedback and modify their abstracts based on suggested improvements until the final deadline of Feb. 13, 2009.

"As in years past, the annual Agile conference is committed to providing practitioners with the latest knowledge related to leading techniques, technologies and advancements in Agile software development," said Johanna Rothman, Agile 2009 conference chair. "The Agile Alliance invites anyone who has unique user-experiences, Agile success stories or best practices to submit a presentation to this year's conference."

It encourages debate and fosters innovative ideas based on real-world implementations for executives, managers, software development practitioners and researchers from labs and academia. This year conference theme revolves around "Making Agile a Reality," by providing practical and useful information that attendees can take advantage of and adopt in their day-to-day software development work.

Agile 2009 will build upon the success it had with last year's music festival approach , with multiple 'stages' to attract audiences with different interests. The stages within the program are proven to provide participants with the feel of a smaller, focused mini-conference while offering attendees a wider choice of topics to choose from. Agile 2009 will host a number of exciting and beneficial sessions, around topics that include:

Agile Adoption

Agile Frontier

Agile and Organizational Change

Agile Product Management

Coaching

Customer and Business Value

Leadership and Teams

Research

Testing

Distributed Agile

Tools for Agility

Tracks for those who are new to Agile

"The annual Agile conference has established itself as the industry's leading Agile development event," said Phil Brock, managing director of the Agile Alliance. "We are anticipating another informative and educational program at this year's conference and look forward to receiving proposals that address leading topics of interest to Agilists.

Leading software tool for Scrum project management
recognized by panel of industry experts

BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan. 6, 2008, Danube Technologies, Inc., http://www.danube.com, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, today announced that its ScrumWorks® Pro tool has been selected as a finalist for Dr. Dobb's 19th Annual Jolt Product Excellence Awards in the Project Management category. ScrumWorks is used by leading software-driven organizations world-wide.

"Having ScrumWorks Pro recognized as a finalist for the Jolt Awards is a credit to all of the hard work and ingenuity that went into making this product, from our development team and coaches to our loyal customer base that provide outstanding input for continuous product improvement," said Victor Szalvay, co-founder and CTO for Danube. "Our 100 percent commitment to the Scrum process has resulted in a very practical and easy-to-use project management tool that helps development teams of all sizes stay focused on developing high-value software."

For the past 19 years, Dr. Dobb's Jolt Awards have been presented annually to products that have "jolted" the industry through innovation and for making the task of creating software faster, easier and more efficient. The Jolt judges are recognized as forward-looking industry leaders, who provide insight into the latest and most promising trends. They define which software development products are ahead of the curve and honor products that are universally useful, simple to use and rich in functionality. The Jolt Awards ceremony will take place on March 11 at SD West 2009 Conference & Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Free Expo passes that include access to the Jolt Awards and other special events are available at http://www.sdexpo.com.

"The Jolt judges look for the most innovative and useful products used by software developers and Danube's ScrumWorks meets that criterion within the Project Management category," said Jolt Awards Manager Amber Ankerholz. "I applaud Danube and its team for being selected by our panel of experts as a Jolt finalist."

ScrumWorks Pro is the only software tool designed from the ground-up to be 100 percent dedicated to Scrum success. Launched in January 2007, it allows teams, product owners and stakeholders to manage every aspect of Scrum at the program, product release and sprint levels.

Company continues to see growth in Scrum adoption

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 17, 2008, Danube Technologies, Inc., http://www.danube.com, the leader in software and training for the Scrum method of agile software development, today announced the user-base of its ScrumWorks® project management tool has exceeded 100,000 registered users. ScrumWorks, the only commercial tool designed exclusively for the Scrum lifecycle, is offered as both downloadable freeware, called ScrumWorks Basic, and an enterprise-ready, commercial tool, called ScrumWorks Pro. Currently, there are more than 105,000 ScrumWorks registered users around the globe.
"Because ScrumWorks closely adheres to the principles of Scrum and provides an extremely practical, easy-to-use and intuitive framework to manage the process, the adoption of both the Basic and Pro versions continues to increase," said Laszlo Szalvay, president and co-founder of Danube. "Reaching the 100,000-user milestone further illustrates how Scrum continues to emerge as the leading agile methodology and how the tool continues to help teams, from tiny start-ups to multi-thousand-seat development organizations, adopt, scale and succeed with Scrum."

ScrumWorks Pro is the only software tool designed from the ground-up to be 100 percent dedicated to Scrum success. Launched in January 2007, it allows teams, product owners and stakeholders to manage every aspect of Scrum at the program, product release and sprint levels. The free download is available at http://www.danube.com/scrumworks/basic/download.

In addition to strong growth in ScrumWorks users, Danube's ScrumCORETM training division has experienced a similar increase in demand. Since 2006, thousands of individuals have completed Danube Certified ScrumMaster training, and course enrollment has been exceptionally high in the fourth quarter of 2008, with nearly all courses through the end of the year at or near capacity. To celebrate, Danube is currently offering a discount on its 2009 courses: All enrollments processed prior to January 1, 2009 will receive 2008 course rates. A complete list of upcoming courses can be found here: http://www.danube.com/courses

"We're excited to see Scrum adoption to continue its upward trend, even with the slowing economy," said Katie Playfair, director of Danube client services. "Through our training and coaching services, we have helped many organizations become more effective by increasing employee retention, creating hyperproductive teams with fewer people, and by increasing quality while decreasing time to market. We look forward to continuing this work as the need for efficiency grows throughout many industries."

Leading Agile organization adds industry experts to meet growing demand for Agile knowledge, community building and sharing of best practices
PORTLAND, Oregon, Dec. 8, 2008 - The Agile Alliance, (http://www.agilealliance.com) a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those who explore and apply Agile principles and practices, today announced four new members to its board of directors. The new members will help guide the growth and vision of the Agile Alliance as it continues to meet the growing demand for information and knowledge that leads to successful Agile software development programs.

"We are pleased to add a diverse group of board members who have the experience and industry knowledge needed to build upon the foundation of our organization," said Phil Brock, managing director of the Agile Alliance. "In addition to helping grow and improve on the success of our Agile conferences, these new board members will bring new and innovative ideas on how the Agile Alliance can better support the Agile development community."
The new board members will each serve a two-year term. They replace outgoing members Ryan Martens, Willem Van Den Ende, and Mike Griffiths. Johanna Rothman will serve as the appointed chair of the Agile 2009 conference (www.agile2009.org) scheduled for Aug. 24-28, 2008 in Chicago.
To help steward and guide the organization's growth, the Agile Alliance elected four new board members:

Rachel Davies - founder of Agile Experience which is based in the United Kingdom serves as conference sponsorship program chairperson and is an industry thought leader and Agile coach.

Johanna Rothman - publisher of The Pragmatic Manager and recent winner of 2008 Jolt Productivity award for her book Manage It! Your Guide to Modern, Pragmatic Project Management

Tamara Sulaiman, PMP, CST - managing consultant at Applied Scrum, an IT consulting organization and co-originator of the Agile Earned Value Management (EVM), a process recognized for integrating the traditional project management practice of EVM with the Scrum framework.

Paul Culling - based in Canada is director of marketing at VersionOne and board member of Agile Vancouver.

The Agile Alliance continues to increase its membership each year in line with the mounting interest and adoption of Agile processes within the software development industry. One key indicator of the increasing adoption of Agile practices is the continuing demand for Agile knowledge by enterprises looking to reap the benefits of the discipline. In addition, the continuing interest and participation in the annual Agile conferences which offer more than 80 presentations to hundreds of attendees each year.

About The Agile Alliance
The Agile Alliance is a non-profit organization chartered to help spread the adoption and expansion of Agile software development world wide. In addition to its annual international conference on Agile software development, the Agile Alliance provides grant funding for academic research, Agile user-group speakers, and programs to support the community. Individual and corporate memberships, along with the profits from the annual conference, fund these programs like a community foundation.
